Organized by the College\u2019s Diversity Committee, which is chaired by Assistant Clinical Professor Mary Cloud, the theme was Reducing Health Disparities. This theme clearly resonated with the University community, as attendance at more than a dozen presentations and events exceeded 1,000 people, a record for Diversity Week. Melvin Wade of URI\u2019s Multicultural Center commended the College for its well-conceived programming, inclusion of members of the Narragansett Tribe in activities and a presentation on diversity in nursing education by Dean Wolfe, the first College dean to speak during a College diversity day. Presentations by several nursing faculty and graduate students included: Improving the Patient Experience by Understanding Our Differences, Addressing Health Disparities and Promoting Health Equity and Caring for the Same Sex Family. \u201cWe felt like we really broke down some barriers.
