She worked at hospitals in New York City before returning to Rhode Island. She is a member the URI College of Nursing\u2019s Advisory Council and the Board of Trustees of Boston Medical Center. Perlman participates in medical mission trips to Belize and Cambodia, working alongside ophthalmologist Michael Morley, and has supported the building of eight schools and the provision of clean drinking water through the nonprofit, Water for Cambodia.<\/p>\n<p>Barbara Hazard \u201960 (doctorate in \u201974) has been a practicing nurse, teacher, dean, researcher, author, consultant\u2026 there isn\u2019t much Hazard hasn\u2019t done in the advancement of nursing. Hazard spent many years as a clinical nurse before transitioning to academia. She has taught at URI, Yale, the University of Pennsylvania and Boston College, where she was Dean of Nursing for 17 years.
