{"id":2498,"date":"2018-07-26T14:26:24","date_gmt":"2018-07-26T18:26:24","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/web.uri.edu\/nfs-draft\/?page_id=2498"},"modified":"2024-08-09T14:29:02","modified_gmt":"2024-08-09T18:29:02","slug":"minor","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/web.uri.edu\/nutrition\/academics\/minor\/","title":{"rendered":"Minor in Nutrition"},"content":{"rendered":"<div class=\"button-list\" style=\"width: 300px;float: right;margin-left: 40px\"><a class=\"cl-button   prominent\" href=\"https:\/\/web.uri.edu\/nutrition\/academics\/course-descriptions\/\" title=\"\">NUT Course Descriptions<\/a> <a class=\"cl-button   prominent\" href=\"https:\/\/web.uri.edu\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/969\/chsminorform_fillable.pdf\" title=\"\">Minor Form (PDF)<\/a><\/div>\n<p>Students can complete a Minor in Nutrition by completing 18 credits, at least 12 of which will be NUT courses; up to one 3-credit science course from a pre-approved list; and up to one 3-credit elective from a pre-approved list, and following the standard University policies for <a href=\"https:\/\/web.uri.edu\/catalog\/minor-fields-of-study\/\">Minor Fields of Study<\/a>.<\/p>\n<h3>Nutrition Minor Requirements<\/h3>\n<ul>\n<li>Minimum GPA of 2.0 in minor courses<\/li>\n<li>At least 12 of 18 credits must be at the 200 level or above\n<ul>\n<li>At least 12 credits of core Nutrition courses (choose from the table below)<\/li>\n<li>Up to 3 credits from the following science courses: CHM 124 or 227; CMB 210 or 311<\/li>\n<li>Up to 3 credits from the following elective courses: KIN 123, 275, 375G; HSS\/PSY 130G; GWS\/APG\/SOC 308; AFS\/AVS\/PLS 132GH<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li>At least eight of the required credits must be earned at URI<\/li>\n<li>You may use Gen Ed requirements for the minor<\/li>\n<li>Up to two courses required in a major program may be used to apply to both the major and minor fields of study<\/li>\n<li>Minor courses may not be taken on a pass-fail basis<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><em>Intent to complete or approval of a minor does not guarantee space in any course required for the minor. <\/em><\/p>\n<p>You should complete a College of Health Sciences minor form as soon as you have completed at least 3 NUT courses.
