These opportunities also encourage networking with professionals and will increase your marketability for employment after graduation.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Internship opportunities and other resources can be found at URI&#8217;s\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/career.uri.edu\/channels\/itr\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Center for Career and Experiential Education<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The following courses offer internship credit toward the B.S. in Nutrition and Dietetics:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">NFS 451: Field Experience in Nutrition and Food Science<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Individual supervised field experience and seminar in community, educational, government, health-oriented, and commercial activities and services related to food science and nutrition<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Earn 1 \u2013 3 credits; may be repeated for a max of 6 credits<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Requirements<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Pre-requisites: NFS 394, NFS 395 OR Permission of Instructor<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">NFS 491: Special Projects<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Advanced work under supervision of a staff member, arranged to suit individual requirements of student<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Earn 1-3 credits; may be repeated for a max of 6 credits<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Requirements<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Permission of Instructor<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Senior Standing (90+ credits)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>Please meet with your academic advisor before making a final decision regarding which option is best for you.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>In the supportive environment of an internship, you can test career goals, enhance professional skills, develop self-reliance, self-esteem, and responsibility.
