It can be as high as $300. Additional background checks may need to be conducted specifically for supervised experiential learning sites.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Orientation Meeting ($500)<\/strong><br>This cost is only in effect for an on-site orientation. It covers daily meal costs for breakfast and lunch during orientation week, as well as additional materials.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics Membership ($58)<br><\/strong>for Student Membership. Membership required.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Other Program Costs (paid to various sites)<\/strong>\n<ol style=\"list-style-type:lower-alpha\" class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Textbooks ($400 estimate)<br><\/strong>Many related courses (such as the 3 MNT courses) use the same textbook to help decrease costs.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Technology (Variable)<\/strong><br>Computer and MS office or compatible applications.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Pre-program Physical Exam and Medical Insurance (Variable)<\/strong><br>Health insurance coverage is mandatory and is not available through either URI or Sodexo. Physical exam cost is dependent on insurance coverage.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Drug Screen ($10 &#8211; $250)<\/strong><br>This cost varies depending on health insurance coverage.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Lab Coats or Scrubs and PPE ($50 &#8211; $250)<\/strong><br>This cost varies depending on individual hospital requirements and is the responsibility of the student.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Orientation Travel and Lodging ($500-1,000)<\/strong><br>This fee is only in effect for an on-site orientation. Costs will vary depending on travel to orientation and lodging choices. Students are responsible for arrangements and payments.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Hospital on-boarding costs ($75 &#8211; $350 varies)<\/strong><br><strong>Specific supervised experiential learning sites have different on-boarding requirements before placement may begin:<\/strong>\n<ol style=\"list-style-type:lower-roman\" class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Criminal Background Check:<\/strong> an additional background check may need to be conducted within 30 days of starting the rotation<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Drug Screen:<\/strong> an additional drug screen may need to be conducted 14\u201330 days prior to starting the rotation<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>COVID\u201319 screen:<\/strong> a COVID screen may need to be conducted 7\u201314 days prior to starting the rotation. Plan ahead, results may take 3\u20136 days to be received; consider rapid test when available<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Hospital on-boarding paperwork process:<\/strong> there may be a fee for your hospital to process required on-boarding paperwork and completing on-line orientation materials.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Transportation\/Parking ($0 &#8211; $100)<\/strong><br>The program does not cover travel costs. There is no financial need requirement to qualify. You can borrow for the total cost of attendance (URI tuition, Sodexo tuition if you are an intern, rent, food, miscellaneous and personal). Unsubsidized Direct Loans will be split evenly between the fall and spring semesters. Any additional funding needed will be PLUS Loans or Alternative loans.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>If you have any loans from your undergraduate program, they will be automatically deferred. <span style=\"text-decoration: underline\">You do not need to do anything<\/span>. URI sends a list of enrolled students each month \u2013 this will defer your loans.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Interest accrues from day 1 after disbursement of funds.
