{"id":8472,"date":"2022-06-07T14:33:59","date_gmt":"2022-06-07T18:33:59","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/web.uri.edu\/nfs\/?page_id=8472"},"modified":"2022-06-15T11:56:28","modified_gmt":"2022-06-15T15:56:28","slug":"mission-and-goals","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/web.uri.edu\/nutrition\/academics\/b-s-dietetics\/mission-and-goals\/","title":{"rendered":"Mission and Goals"},"content":{"rendered":"<h1 class=\"entry-title\">B.S. in Dietetics<\/h1>\n<section class=\"cl-wrapper cl-menu-wrapper\"><nav id=\"\" class=\"cl-menu  \" data-name=\"B.S. in Dietetics\" data-show-title=\"0\"><ul id=\"menu-b-s-in-dietetics\" class=\"cl-menu-list cl-menu-list-no-js\"><li id=\"menu-item-8578\" class=\"menu-item menu-item-type-post_type menu-item-object-page menu-item-8578\"><a href=\"https:\/\/web.uri.edu\/nutrition\/academics\/b-s-dietetics\/\">Overview<\/a><\/li>\n<li id=\"menu-item-8579\" class=\"menu-item menu-item-type-post_type menu-item-object-page menu-item-8579\"><a href=\"https:\/\/web.uri.edu\/nutrition\/academics\/b-s-dietetics\/curriculum\/\">Curriculum<\/a><\/li>\n<li id=\"menu-item-8581\" class=\"menu-item menu-item-type-post_type menu-item-object-page menu-item-8581\"><a href=\"https:\/\/web.uri.edu\/nutrition\/academics\/b-s-dietetics\/mission-and-goals\/\">Mission and Goals<\/a><\/li>\n<li id=\"menu-item-8687\" class=\"menu-item menu-item-type-post_type menu-item-object-page menu-item-8687\"><a href=\"https:\/\/web.uri.edu\/nutrition\/academics\/b-s-dietetics\/learning-outcomes\/\">Learning Outcomes<\/a><\/li>\n<\/ul><\/nav><\/section>\n<h1>Mission and Goals<\/h1>\n<p>The mission of the B.S. in Dietetics program is to provide evidence-based knowledge and experiential opportunities to prepare students for supervised practice leading to eligibility for the CDR credentialing exam to become a Registered Dietitian Nutritionist.<\/p>\n<h2>Program Goals and Outcomes<\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Goal #1<\/strong>: Graduates will be well prepared to become competent entry-level Registered Dietitian Nutritionists.<br \/>\n<strong>Outcomes<\/strong>:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>At least 80% of program students complete program\/degree requirements within 3 years (150% of program length).<\/li>\n<li>60% of program graduates apply for admission to a supervised practice program prior to or within 12 months of graduation.<\/li>\n<li>Of program graduates who apply to a supervised practice program, at least 80% are admitted within 12 months of graduation.<\/li>\n<li>At least 75% of graduates who complete a graduation survey will rate the quality of their academic preparation in nutrition and support courses as prepared to very well prepared.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li><strong>Goal #2<\/strong>: Graduates will be well prepared for post-graduate opportunities including attending an ACEND-accredited supervised practice program, completing a graduate program, and\/or entering the workforce.<br \/>\n<strong>Outcomes<\/strong>:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>The program\u2019s one-year pass rate (graduates who pass the registration exam within one year of first attempt) on the CDR credentialing exam for dietitian nutritionists is at least 80%.<\/li>\n<li>At least 75% of one-year graduates who respond to a post-baccalaureate survey will rate the quality of their academic preparation in nutrition and support courses as prepared to very well prepared.<\/li>\n<li>At least 90% of dietetic internship directors who respond to a survey will rate the academic training of graduates for clinical, community, foodservice management, and out-patient rotations as prepared to very well prepared.<\/li>\n<li>At least 60% of graduates who respond to a post-baccalaureate survey will have completed some graduate coursework within one year of graduation.<\/li>\n<li>At least 50% of graduates who respond to a post-baccalaureate survey who sought employment in dietetics will be employed within three months of program completion.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Program outcomes data is available upon request.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>B.S. in Dietetics Mission and Goals The mission of the B.S. in Dietetics program is to provide evidence-based knowledge and experiential opportunities to prepare students for supervised practice leading to eligibility for the CDR credentialing exam to become a Registered Dietitian Nutritionist.
