The Tech Committee invites you to join this month’s Special Interest Group, Let\u2019s Talk Technology conversation on the Con Artist Playbook.  AARP RI & CT are collaborating to bring their program the Con Artist Playbook.  A Look Inside the Mind of a Criminal providing you with the tips and tools to protect yourself and others from predatory practices of scammers.  This session offers the learner an opportunity to hear and see footage from actual criminals sharing their tactics in obtaining your private information and ultimately your money.  Come away with materials, handouts and resources that you can share with others to help them STOP IT and STOP IT.  Education is key to getting out ahead of these scams.<\/p>\n

Americana Celebrated: Mark Twain\u2019s Short Story with Teresa Testa<\/strong>
\n4 Sessions beginning Tuesday, February 1, 4:30PM<\/p>\n

Beyond the colloquial and sardonic humorist\u2014beyond the immediate landscape of literary lore\u2014late 19th century American author Mark Twain illustrates modern America\u2019s formative period with substantial intellectual, political, and religious thought. The objective of this course is to introduce students to the substance of the writer’s philosophy and reveal the Mark Twain not often considered. By focusing on the impeccable cultural artistry which celebrates a national heritage, this originally-designed course offers new approaches to understanding the author\u2019s realist and regional short works. Guiding the course study will be a concerted effort to answer the question, \u201cWhat does it mean to be an American?\u201d This is attained through reliance on primary historical and literary materials. The course outcomes will provide an enriched awareness of Twain\u2019s aesthetic of Americana through the celebration of the author’s modern short story form. This is a lecture-driven course with an approximate 15-20 page reading for each session including fiction and non-fiction.<\/p>\n
