Headlining Metcalf\u2019s Annual Public Lecture Series will be science journalist Erica Gies, who will present the 2024 Leeson Lecture on Thursday, June 6, at 3:30PM. in the Corless Auditorium at the University of Rhode Island Graduate School of Oceanography. Long Haul is the true-crime account of the FBI&#8217;s Highway Serial Killings Initiative, and the hunt for long-haul truckers behind at least 850 murders (and rising) &#8211; mostly of female sex-trafficking victims, along our nation&#8217;s highways. Frank&#8217;s on the ground research takes us along as he rides thousands of miles in a big-rig, gaining an intimate understanding of three cultures &#8211; trucking, trafficking, and criminal analysis. Three cultures that often collide on cold, hard, autopsy tables.
