Textbooks can be ordered through the<a href=\"https:\/\/web.uri.edu\/prov\/about-the-campus\/uri-campus-store\/\"> URI Campus Bookstore<\/a>.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>*Some degree and certificate programs may require more technology than the above list. Check with your Program Director or the Student Contact Support Program for more information.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/web.uri.edu\/online\/programs\/certificate\/gis-and-geospatial-technologies\/\">GIS and Geospatial Technologies Graduate Certificate Program Students:<\/a><\/strong>\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>The ArcGIS Online that is included in the first course EVS 509, can be accessed with a Mac* or a PC because it is a cloud-based GIS.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>For the other GIS courses (NRS 570, 571, 572, 573), you will need a PC or a Mac* with Parallels loaded.\u00a0 This will run a virtual Windows machine on the Mac.\u00a0\u00a0<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/pro.arcgis.com\/en\/pro-app\/get-started\/arcgis-pro-system-requirements.htm\">Minimum system requirements for a Windows machine<\/a> \u00bb\u00a0<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/pro.arcgis.com\/en\/pro-app\/get-started\/run-pro-on-a-mac.htm\">How to run a Mac on a Windows partition<\/a> \u00bb\u00a0<br>Students should be advised that <strong>ArcGIS Pro will not run on<\/strong> the new MacBook Air and MacBook Pro 13-inch models with <strong>the Apple M1 Chip<\/strong>. Running standard Windows 10 and <strong>ArcGIS Pro<\/strong> on Intel-based MacBooks has been possible up until late 2020 (BootCamp\/Parallels), however, at present this is <strong>not possible<\/strong> with the release of the <strong>new Apple M1 Chip <\/strong>in November 2020. <br><strong>Apple still offers a MacBook Pro 16-inch<\/strong>\u00a0with 2.6GHz 9th Generation 6\u2011core Intel Core i7\u00a0or 2.3GHz 9th Generation 8\u2011core Intel Core i9 Processors.<strong> The risk <\/strong>with this system is the level at which Apple and 3<sup>rd<\/sup>\u00a0party VM developers will continue to update and support Mac OSx on this Intel-based model.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/web.uri.edu\/online\/programs\/certificate\/gis-and-geospatial-technologies\/\">Data Science Graduate Certificate Program Students:<\/a><\/strong>\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Linux (Ubuntu 16 or comparable)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>MacOS (10.10 or higher), or Windows (10 home or higher)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>8GB RAM<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Broadband internet connection<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Web browser (Safari, Firefox, or Chrome)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>At least 2GB free disk space<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-css-opacity\" \/>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-columns is-layout-flex wp-container-core-columns-is-layout-9d6595d7 wp-block-columns-is-layout-flex\">\n<div class=\"wp-block-column is-layout-flow wp-block-column-is-layout-flow\">\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Brightspace<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/brightspace.uri.edu\/d2l\/home\">Brightspace<\/a> is the learning management system for online courses at URI. You will log into <a href=\"https:\/\/brightspace.uri.edu\/d2l\/home\">Brightspace<\/a> to <\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>access your course documents and syllabi<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>participate in message board discussions<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>submit your assignments<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>take tests<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>view assignment grades<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-column is-layout-flow wp-block-column-is-layout-flow\">\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">e-Campus<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/appcsprod.uri.edu:9503\/psp\/saprodstu\/?cmd=login&amp;languageCd=ENG&amp;\">e-Campus<\/a> is URI\u2019s student portal where students can<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>access records<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>register for courses<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>check bills and other financial information<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>view course grades and transcripts<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-column is-layout-flow wp-block-column-is-layout-flow\">\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Software<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>URI is proud to provide<a href=\"https:\/\/web.uri.edu\/its\/office-365\/\"> Office 365<\/a> for all students.
