Nursing Education Center Parking and Transportation

The University provides public transportation to the Rhode Island Nursing Education Center (RINEC) at 350 Eddy St., South Street Landing, Providence, for all undergraduate nursing students enrolled in courses there. There are also parking passes available for undergraduate and graduate nursing students, faculty, and affiliates who wish to drive.

Take the bus

RIPTA bus #62 will provide express service from the Kingston campus to RINEC.

A second bus, #66, stops at the Kingston Amtrak Station, the Wickford Junction train station, the Community College of Rhode Island (CCRI), Warwick, and Kennedy Plaza, Providence, from which there is shuttle service to the Center. Parking at Wickford Junction and CCRI is free to anyone with a RIPTA pass.

Undergraduates: Get your free RIPTA U-Pass at the Parking and Transportation Services Office, Kingston campus, 44 Lower College Road. Passes and bus schedules will be available in late August. The pass allows students access to all RIPTA transportation at any time.

Undergraduates: Parking is available at the Rhode Island Convention Center’s north or south garages with shuttle service to RINEC from West Exchange Street, near the north garage office. View directions to the garage.

Graduate students: Parking is available at the South Street Landing Parking Garage on Eddy Street.

Get Your Parking Pass

The cost of RINEC parking is included with your URI parking permit.

Undergraduates: To get your Convention Center parking pass, a parking pass application must be completed and brought to the Transportation and Parking Office, Kingston campus, 44 Lower College Road. Applications are also available there, but we recommend you complete the application before coming to the office to expedite the process. In addition to the parking application, you will need to present a valid URI parking permit and student ID to get your pass.

Graduate students, faculty, and staff: South Street Landing parking passes are available from the RINEC Administration Suite on the first floor. You will need to present your URI parking permit (or its receipt) and your valid URI ID to get your pass.

Shuttle Service

First Transit provides shuttle bus service from the Rhode Island Convention Center parking garage, 1 Sabin St., Providence, to RINEC for all students, faculty, staff, and affiliates with a URI or RINEC ID. All passengers must show ID before boarding.

All RINEC shuttle drivers are professionally licensed drivers employed by First Transit and have passed extensive background checks. RINEC shuttle bus drivers are uniformed and wear a photo badge, which you may ask to see at any time.

Shuttle buses are branded and marked with the “RI Nursing Education Center” logo. The shuttle operates Monday through Friday, every 10 minutes during peak hours (6:20 a.m. – 9:20 a.m. and 2:40 p.m. – 5:40 p.m.) then every 20 minutes all other times. The shuttle leaves West Exchange St., next to the RI Convention Center north garage office, and heads to RINEC and Kennedy Plaza before returning to the RICC parking garage.
