Winter Parking on Kingston Campus
The University’s Winter Parking Policy is in effect from December 1st through March. Declaration of a snow emergency resulting in a full or partial parking ban will be made by the Department of Public Safety and will be communicated through email, social media and voicemail notices by URI’s Department of Marketing & Communications. To ensure efficient snow removal operations and the safety of the campus community, Public Safety and Facilities Operations ask for your cooperation. Here’s what is meant by a full or partial parking ban and where you may park:
No Parking on
- All roadways and roadside parking throughout the campus
- Fraternity Circle roadway and roadside parking from Rte. 138 to Quarry Road
- Commuter Student Lots (6 p.m. – 7 a.m.)
- Faculty/Staff Lots (6 p.m. – 7 a.m.)
Approved Parking: With appropriate parking permits at Keaney, Dairy Barn and is Flagg Road student lots. Fine Arts South lot may also be used by evening class students during a full parking ban.
No Parking on
- Upper College Road, Lower College Road, East Alumni Avenue or Flagg Road
Approved Parking: With parking permits students may park in any student lot; faculty and staff may park in appropriate lots.
Clearing the Spaces
Please be aware of these areas and park appropriately in approved locations when inclement weather is expected. Vehicles parked in an area where no parking is permitted during a parking ban will be ticketed and/or towed at the owner’s expense. Continued snow clearing will require that vehicles be moved to other lots when the owners are notified.
Community members who may leave a vehicle on campus when they are traveling during the winter must notify Parking Services in advance at 401-874-9281 or email@example.com. This includes athletic team members, students, faculty, staff and visitors.
Please contact Public Safety at (401) 874-4910, 24 hours per day seven days per week or Parking Services (401) 874-9281 from 8:00 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Friday.
Thank you for your cooperation.
