{"id":248,"date":"2026-05-05T10:03:32","date_gmt":"2026-05-05T14:03:32","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/web.uri.edu\/pfas-in-ri-homes\/?page_id=248"},"modified":"2026-05-29T12:30:18","modified_gmt":"2026-05-29T16:30:18","slug":"support","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/web.uri.edu\/pfas-in-ri-homes\/support\/","title":{"rendered":"Support"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Funding <\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Primary support for the project was awarded to <a href=\"https:\/\/web.uri.edu\/coopext\/programs\/\">URI&#8217;s Cooperative Extension Water Quality Program<\/a> by the <a href=\"https:\/\/health.ri.gov\/\">Rhode Island Department of Health<\/a> (RIDOH) in partnership with the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.riib.org\/\">Rhode Island Infrastructure Bank<\/a> (RIIB) with funding from the EPA\u2019s&nbsp;Emerging Contaminants&nbsp;in Small or Disadvantaged Communities&nbsp;(EC-SDC)&nbsp;Grant Program.&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Additional&nbsp;funding for the program was awarded through&nbsp;the&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/snepnetwork.org\/\">Southeast New England Program&nbsp;Network<\/a>&nbsp;(SNEP Network).&nbsp;The&nbsp;SNEP Network is a project of the New England Environmental Finance Center and is funded by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency\u2019s Southeast New England Program.&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Partnerships<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>URI\u2019s Cooperative Extension Water Quality Program is committed to expanding the capacity of Rhode Islanders to assess, restore and protect water resources throughout the state. Through four coordinated initiatives\u2014 <a href=\"https:\/\/web.uri.edu\/nemo\/\">Rhode Island Nonpoint Education for Municipal Officials<\/a> (RI NEMO), <a href=\"https:\/\/web.uri.edu\/watershedwatch\/\">Watershed Watch<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/web.uri.edu\/owt\/\">Onsite Wastewater Resource Center<\/a> (OWRC) and <a href=\"https:\/\/web.uri.edu\/safewater\/\">Home-A-Syst<\/a>\u2014the program provides community support, technical guidance, and education focused on reducing impacts to groundwater, surface water, and drinking water. Together, these programs offer expertise in watershed monitoring, municipal engagement, private well stewardship, and onsite wastewater research and training. During the project, Water Quality Program staff will also collaborate with the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.edc.uri.edu\/\">URI Environmental Data Center<\/a>, a geospatial research lab specializing in spatial data processing, visualization, and distribution.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>RIDOH is a longstanding partner of the URI Water Quality Program, providing guidance on public and private well regulations and addressing water quality issues that&nbsp;impact&nbsp;public health in Rhode Island.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The SNEP Network\u2019s mission is to advance stormwater, ecological restoration, and climate resilience projects to the funding\/financing and implementation phase.
