Island\u2019s Cooperative Extension Water Quality Program<\/a> is&nbsp;testing private well water and wastewater at selected households to better understand&nbsp;the presence of&nbsp;PFAS&nbsp;(per\u2011&nbsp;and polyfluoroalkyl substances)&nbsp;in Rhode Island&nbsp;homes.&nbsp;PFAS-&nbsp;chemicals widely used in both industrial processes and consumer products-&nbsp;have been detected in drinking water across the&nbsp;United States, and exposure to PFAS is linked to&nbsp;potentially adverse health effects.&nbsp;This University of Rhode Island Institutional Review Board-approved study&nbsp;will&nbsp;provide residents with information to help reduce PFAS exposure in the home and contribute to a better&nbsp;understanding of PFAS exposure and contamination&nbsp;in local drinking water supplies.&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-column is-layout-flow wp-block-column-is-layout-flow\"
