For more than 35 years, the Pharmacy Outreach Program at the University of Rhode Island College of Pharmacy has partnered with communities across Rhode Island to help residents better understand and manage their medications. The program provides free medication education, outreach services, and wellness support to Rhode Island residents through community-based programs and events. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Pharmacy Outreach Program is committed to improving the health and well-being of Rhode Islanders by increasing access to trusted medication information and personalized support. Through one-on-one medication review sessions (\u201cBrown Bag\u201d medication consultations), educational presentations, health fairs, and community outreach events, the program helps individuals build confidence in their medications and improve medication adherence, safety, and overall health outcomes. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Services are available to community groups, senior centers, housing communities, libraries, faith-based organizations, schools, and other interested groups throughout Rhode Island. The program also works to expand access to medication-related resources and support for underserved and historically marginalized communities.

Educational Presentations<\/h1>\n\n\n\n

The Pharmacy Outreach Program offers a diverse library of more than 150 educational programs designed to support the health and wellness needs of Rhode Island communities.

Popular presentation topics include fall risk prevention, mental health, pain management, diabetes, heart health, medication safety, healthy aging, herbal and dietary supplements, weight-loss medications, and other timely healthcare topics relevant to the community.

Brown Bag Program<\/h1>\n\n\n\n

In the Brown Bag Medication Review Program, participants bring all of their prescription medications, over-the-counter products, vitamins, and supplements to a personalized medication review with a pharmacist. During the session, the pharmacist reviews each medication to help participants better understand how and why their medications are used, identify possible side effects or interactions, discuss proper administration, and answer medication-related questions. These one-on-one sessions are designed to support medication safety, adherence, and overall health and wellness.<\/p>\n\n<\/article><\/div><\/section>\n\n
