Students FROM: Kelly Orr, Associate Dean of Student and Academic Affairs Brett Feret, Director of Experiential Education Policies and procedures regarding COVID-19 vaccinations at federal, state, and local levels continue to develop and change to support public health and safety. As of August 2021, the Rhode Island Department of Health issued a regulation, 216-RICR-20-15-8, which includes a requirement for all workers in licensed healthcare facilities and other practicing health care providers to be immunized for COVID-19 (or obtain a necessary medical exemption under their strict standard for such exemptions). Though at this time the University of Rhode Island allows for religious exemptions, many of our experiential partners will not, based on this regulation. Given the above, unless you are able to meet the experiential site’s requirements regarding immunization for COVID-19, or you qualify for a medical exemption, the College may be unable to place you in a clinical experience for either your introductory (IPPE) or advanced pharmacy practice experiences (APPE), both requirements of the Pharm.D. curriculum. While our Office of Experiential Education will work with students who have documented religious or medical exemptions to try to find suitable experiential placements, we cannot guarantee that experiential sites will take unvaccinated students, even with an approved exemption, within Rhode Island or other states in which we have partners with an active affiliation agreement. The unavailability of placements due to vaccine exemptions, or refusal, could either delay or hinder the ability to graduate from the Pharm.D. program." width="1777" height="2299" srcset="https://web.uri.edu/pharmacy/wp-content/uploads/sites/1223/Experiential_Statement_Vaccines_Letterhead.jpg 1777w, https://web.uri.edu/pharmacy/wp-content/uploads/sites/1223/Experiential_Statement_Vaccines_Letterhead-232x300.jpg 232w, https://web.uri.edu/pharmacy/wp-content/uploads/sites/1223/Experiential_Statement_Vaccines_Letterhead-791x1024.jpg 791w, https://web.uri.edu/pharmacy/wp-content/uploads/sites/1223/Experiential_Statement_Vaccines_Letterhead-768x994.jpg 768w, https://web.uri.edu/pharmacy/wp-content/uploads/sites/1223/Experiential_Statement_Vaccines_Letterhead-1187x1536.jpg 1187w, https://web.uri.edu/pharmacy/wp-content/uploads/sites/1223/Experiential_Statement_Vaccines_Letterhead-1583x2048.jpg 1583w, https://web.uri.edu/pharmacy/wp-content/uploads/sites/1223/Experiential_Statement_Vaccines_Letterhead-364x471.jpg 364w, https://web.uri.edu/pharmacy/wp-content/uploads/sites/1223/Experiential_Statement_Vaccines_Letterhead-500x647.jpg 500w, https://web.uri.edu/pharmacy/wp-content/uploads/sites/1223/Experiential_Statement_Vaccines_Letterhead-1000x1294.jpg 1000w, https://web.uri.edu/pharmacy/wp-content/uploads/sites/1223/Experiential_Statement_Vaccines_Letterhead-1280x1656.jpg 1280w" sizes="auto, (max-width: 1777px) 100vw, 1777px" />

["post-49892","page","type-page","status-publish","hentry
["GET
