&#8220;web-friendly&#8221; format.\u00a0 While we strive to provide you with the latest information about your College, there is generally a unifying theme to tie things together.\u00a0 I am excited to share our <a href=\"https:\/\/web.uri.edu\/pharmacy\/newsletter\/winter2014\/\">Winter 2014 &#8220;Research&#8221; edition<\/a> with you. This issue affords a special focus on the scientific exploration and scholarly work that our faculty and students are engaged in.<br \/>\nWhile the College is known for the quality of its teaching in the pharmaceutical and clinical sciences, the underpinning of that excellence is found in the research conducted by our scientists and clinicians. Our work is truly translational in nature.\u00a0 You will find contributions from the &#8220;bench to the bedside&#8221;, reflecting our collaborative partnerships.\u00a0 Our robust research enterprise garners significant attention and research funding as demonstrated by our consistent top 25% ranking in pharmacy school research funding.<br \/>\nWhether it be investigating novel receptor signaling mechanisms, examining the effects of diabetes mellitus on drug disposition, synthesizing potential therapeutic agents, developing drug delivery mechanisms involving nanotechnology, operationalizing new health care delivery strategies for the developmentally disabled, or exploring the mysteries of neurodegenerative disease, the URI College of Pharmacy strives to make a positive contribution to human health throughout the world.<br \/>\nThis newsletter highlights some of our <a href=\"https:\/\/web.uri.edu\/pharmacy\/2014\/02\/04\/college-research-day\/\">recent achievements<\/a>.\u00a0 Please feel free to contact us if you have questions about all that we do in the research arena.
