The series of lunchtime classes continues Wednesday, May 13 at noon with &#8220;<a href=\"https:\/\/web.uri.edu\/cehp\/its-the-law-overview-of-the-2020-updates-to-rhode-island-pharmacy-law\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">It\u2019s the Law: Overview of the 2020 Updates to Rhode Island Pharmacy Law.<\/a>&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Others will follow on select Wednesdays through May and June, with such topics as diabetes, immunotherapy, CBD\/THC and opioid use disorder. Each webinar will provide 1.0 live contact hour of CE for pharmacists and pharmacy technicians. The webinars will be recorded and later available for home study credit. In addition, new home study programs <a href=\"https:\/\/web.uri.edu\/cehp\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">will soon be available on the web site<\/a>. Registration is requested for all programs. Visit the <a href=\"https:\/\/web.uri.edu\/cehp\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Continuing Professional Development website<\/a> to register.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;In these uncertain times, we want you know that we value your role as a health care professional,&#8221; said Mary-Jane Kanaczet, director of Continuing Professional Development. &#8220;We also want you to know that as you are on the front lines of the COVID-19 pandemic, we are busy preparing virtual CE opportunities that will be available for you now and in the months to come. Rhode Island\u2019s Pharmacy Residents and Fellows will present a series of lunchtime webinars on select Wednesdays in May and June.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>\u201c<a href=\"https:\/\/web.uri.edu\/cehp\/its-the-law-overview-of-the-2020-updates-to-rhode-island-pharmacy-law\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">It\u2019s the Law: Overview of the 2020 Updates to Rhode Island Pharmacy Law<\/a>\u201d focuses on proposed and current pharmacy regulations, pharmacy law updates, and approaches to implement updates into practice.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Upon completion of this educational activity, pharmacists will be able to:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Differentiate and distinguish between proposed and current regulations.<\/li>\n<li>Assess trends related to pharmacy law updates.<\/li>\n<li>Summarize newly enforced policies.<\/li>\n<li>Describe the effect of new policies on pharmacy practice in a multitude of settings.<\/li>\n<li>Explain practical approaches to proactively and effectively implement updates into current pharmacy practice.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Upon completion of this educational activity, pharmacy technicians will be able to:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Review the pharmacy technician\u2019s role in implementing updates into current practice.<\/li>\n<li>Describe effective strategies for conveying regulation changes to patients.<\/li>\n<li style=\"list-style-type: none\">&nbsp;<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The URI Office of Continuing Education for the Health Professions is offering many of its continuing professional development courses online in light of the COVID-19 pandemic.
