{"id":52422,"date":"2023-10-10T11:22:04","date_gmt":"2023-10-10T15:22:04","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/web.uri.edu\/pharmacy\/?p=52422"},"modified":"2023-10-10T11:22:04","modified_gmt":"2023-10-10T15:22:04","slug":"pharmacy-class-of-2027-welcomed-to-profession-during-white-coat-ceremony","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/web.uri.edu\/pharmacy\/2023\/10\/10\/pharmacy-class-of-2027-welcomed-to-profession-during-white-coat-ceremony\/","title":{"rendered":"Pharmacy Class of 2027 welcomed to profession during White Coat Ceremony"},"content":{"rendered":"<h3>New pharmacy students receive white coats, take the Oath of a Pharmacist<\/h3>\n<p>More than 100 new University of Rhode Island College of Pharmacy students officially entered into the field of pharmacy Sept. 29 as they donned their white coats for the first time.<\/p>\n<p>Pharmacy Dean Paul Larrat welcomed the students and their families in a packed Edwards Auditorium Friday afternoon, welcoming the students into their first professional year of pharmacy training.<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>\u201cI promise to devote myself to a lifetime of service to others through the profession of pharmacy. In fulfilling this vow:<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI will consider the welfare of humanity and relief of suffering my primary concerns.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI will promote inclusion, embrace diversity, and advocate for justice to advance health equity.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI will apply my knowledge, experience and skills to the best of my ability to assure optimal outcomes for all patients.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI will respect and protect all personal and health information entrusted to me.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI will accept the responsibility to improve my professional knowledge, expertise and self-awareness.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI will hold myself and my colleagues to the highest principles of our profession\u2019s moral, ethical and legal conduct.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI will embrace and advocate changes that improve patient care.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI will utilize my knowledge, skills, experiences and values to prepare the next generation of pharmacists.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI take these vows voluntarily with the full realization
