Learning Objectives

Upon completion of this learning activity, participants will be able to:

  • Review novel therapeutic targets, including immunotherapies and oral agents
  • Identify commonly encountered adverse effects
  • Discuss strategies for adverse effect and drug interaction management
  • Recall details about migraine disease prevalence
  • Define common migraine diagnostic criteria
  • Explain the essential concepts of migraine pathophysiology
  • Describe a strategy for evaluating patients with migraine disease
  • Explain changes in Rhode Island pharmacy law and statutes enact in the 2017 legislative session
  • Identify and explain risk factors for herpes zoster and implications of its occurrence
  • Compare and contrast the currently available herpes zoster vaccinations and recommendations
  • Identify the roles of the pharmacy team in herpes zoster prevention and vaccination

The University of Rhode Island College of Pharmacy is accredited by the Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education as a provider of continuing pharmacy education. This knowledge-based program will provide 5.0 Contact Hours (0.5 CEUs) for pharmacists and pharmacy technicians, including 1.0 Contact Hour of Pharmacy Law. Learners must sign in and complete an online program evaluation at the conclusion of the program in order to earn CE credit. Evaluations must be completed within 60 days of the program.   • Registration: After October 30, 2018
