{"id":36,"date":"2022-08-23T09:16:03","date_gmt":"2022-08-23T13:16:03","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/web.uri.edu\/police-draft\/?page_id=36"},"modified":"2024-05-07T09:58:38","modified_gmt":"2024-05-07T13:58:38","slug":"request-an-officer-community-policing","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/web.uri.edu\/police\/request-an-officer-community-policing\/","title":{"rendered":"Community Policing"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<div class=\"wp-block-columns is-layout-flex wp-container-core-columns-is-layout-9d6595d7 wp-block-columns-is-layout-flex\">\n<div class=\"wp-block-column is-layout-flow wp-block-column-is-layout-flow\" style=\"flex-basis:66.66%\">\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Community Policing Philosophy<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>As URI moves into a new era of policing intended to provide a safer community for all, we also commit to working toward a philosophy of policing that embraces the approach often referred to as community policing.&nbsp; Community policing is typically described as the entire community, including police officers, recognizing that they share important community values, beliefs and goals.&nbsp; This implies that officers are confident of community support for their decisions and actions; and citizens are confident that officers are addressing the public safety issues that concern the community.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>We strive to be proactive through our various methods of patrol such as vehicle patrol, foot patrol and bicycle patrol.
