To increase community engagement in the policy development process, draft Administrative Policies (both new and revised) are available for community input for a period of 12-14 days prior to their review by the Administrative Policy Committee. We welcome feedback from students, staff, and faculty across the University. Announcements regarding draft policies available for community comment are issued in RhodyToday, and community members may request email notifications by contacting csbarker@uri.edu<\/a>. If draft policies are presently available for community comment, they will appear below.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Draft Policy on Information Technology Data, Systems, and Services<\/em>:<\/strong> The purposes of this new policy are to 1) establish standards for the acceptable use of IT Resources; 2) ensure the protection and security of IT Resources and IT Users; 3) require appropriate protections on all Endpoint Devices used for University business; 4) define the responsibilities of administrators to protect and secure IT Resources; and 5) comply with state and federal law. This policy will supersede the following IT policies: Policy on IT Acceptable Use<\/em> (07.103.2); Policy on IT Endpoint Protection<\/em> (07.102.2); Policy on IT Resources<\/em> (07.101.2); and Policy on IT Service Protection<\/em> (07.104.1).<\/p>\n\n\n\n Draft Policy on HIPAA Privacy and Security<\/em>:<\/strong> This new policy is intended to provide HIPAA workforce members clear expectations for compliance with health information privacy and security requirements.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Draft Policy on Naming<\/em>:<\/strong> The purpose of this new policy is to provide a transparent, consistent, and accountable framework for the naming and renaming of University of Rhode Island physical facilities, programs, named endowments, or other University assets, in recognition of individuals and\/or entities whose association or philanthropy advances URI\u2019s mission and aligns with the University\u2019s values.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Draft Policy on Security Camera Systems<\/em>:<\/strong> The purpose of this revised policy is to regulate the use of security cameras systems on the University of Rhode Island campuses to monitor and record public areas for safety and security, to assist in the investigation of incidents that occur on URI campuses, and for operational purposes. Draft revisions accelerate the phase-out of stand-alone cameras (i.e. not within the University’s centralized system), and inserted broad notice regarding cameras in use in place of a signage requirement.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Draft Policy on Hazing<\/em>:<\/strong> Hazing is strictly prohibited as it endangers the physical and mental well-being of individuals and disrupts the integrity of the campus community. This policy is designed to promote safety, encourage accountability, and comply with federal and state laws. During scheduled review, the policy was revised to indicate that reports lacking specific details or submitted anonymously may limit the University\u2019s ability to conduct a thorough investigation or take responsive action; establish that reports made in bad faith or as a misuse of the conduct process may result in disciplinary action; and to make other minor clarifying revisions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Prior Submitted Comments<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n Submitted community comments (and responses to them) will be posted below for 30 days following a related policy’s approval.
