Consider, too, whether you want a \u201cbreak\u201d from formal classroom education and how you might benefit from seeking out other experiences.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Below are some reflection questions to help reflect on your preparedness:<br><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Have you completed your prerequisite coursework?<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Will you be able to schedule your standardized test at a reasonable time and be as prepared as possible?<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Are you able to receive a minimum of three strong, supportive letters of recommendation?<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>What does your candidacy present in terms of clinical, service, and other extracurricular experiences?<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>What shadowing and direct patient care experiences do you have?<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>How much volunteer work and community engagement can you demonstrate?<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Did you engage in any research experiences and\/or leadership roles?<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Do your academic metrics align with your desired schools?<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Do you have enough time to craft a compelling personal statement?<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Do you have the time to prepare <strong>all<\/strong> aspects of your prospective application (i.e., primary application, secondary application, standardized test scores, and letters of recommendation)?<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Are you financially prepared to start this process?<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Will you be ready to complete more years of schooling?<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Could you benefit from more time to build up a robust portfolio?<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Still not sure?<\/strong> <\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Attend our \u201cAm I Ready to Apply\u201d workshop during the Fall semester to help self-assess your readiness.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\" \/>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Rolling Admissions&nbsp;<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Most health professional schools use a rolling admissions process. This means they review and accept applications as they come in\u2014not all at once after the final deadline. Once spots are filled, they\u2019re gone\u2014so timing matters.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>To be competitive, it\u2019s important to apply early in the cycle. Submitting sooner gives you a better chance at an interview and acceptance.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Applications are reviewed as they\u2019re completed.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Schools won\u2019t review your application until all required parts are submitted (see: transcripts, personal statement, letters, test scores, etc.).<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Applications usually open in May or June.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Aim to submit everything by July or early August for the best shot at an interview.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>How can you figure out the best time to apply?
