Dental schools vary greatly in whether they require a supplemental application or essays; many require a school-specific supplemental application fee as part of their process.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Secondary applications are school-specific<\/strong>.<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>The questions asked will vary from program to program. They generally intend to gain a deeper understanding of each applicant, as well as a sense of why an applicant is a good \u201cfit\u201d for the school.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Schools vary on exactly when they distribute secondary applications\u2014some will be sent out shortly after submission of the primary application, while others can take over a month. Regardless of when the secondary is received, applicants should aim to complete their secondary applications within two weeks. Some schools use an applicant\u2019s response time as a way to gauge their interest in the program, so secondaries should ideally be completed within a few days for top-choice programs.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-columns is-layout-flex wp-container-core-columns-is-layout-9d6595d7 wp-block-columns-is-layout-flex\">\n<div class=\"wp-block-column is-layout-flow wp-block-column-is-layout-flow\" style=\"flex-basis:66.66%\">\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">To prepare for writing secondary applications, applicants should:<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Review each school\u2019s mission statement and familiarize themselves with the core values of the school and what their priorities are when reviewing candidates (to view a comprehensive list of all mission statements for MD schools, visit the <a href=\"https:\/\/students-residents.aamc.org\/media\/6966\/download#:~:text=CA%20University%20of%20California%2C%20San,our%20region%20and%20the%20nation.\">MSAR Mission Statement Report<\/a>)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Do some research into common questions that are asked in secondary applications so that general responses can be crafted in advance<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Plan answers around specific, illustrative examples for their candidacy\u2014make sure to not repeat or copy directly from the primary application; rather, add in new details and elements that expand upon your responses<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Remain organized and create a plan to prioritize and submit your secondaries in a timely manner- usually programs expect these to be <strong>completed and returned within 2-3 weeks<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-column is-layout-flow wp-block-column-is-layout-flow\" style=\"flex-basis:33.33%\"><div class=\"cl-wrapper cl-card-wrapper\"><a class=\"cl-card  \" href=\"https:\/\/www.prospectivedoctor.com\/medical-school-secondary-essay-prompts-database\/\" title=\"\"><div class=\"cl-card-container media\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/web.uri.edu\/prehealth\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/1746\/Student-Group-Computer-scaled.jpg\" srcset=\"\" alt=\"\"><\/div><div class=\"cl-card-container text\"><div class=\"cl-card-text\"><h2>Pre-Write Your Secondaries<\/h2><p>Visit the database of secondary applications for each school at Prospective Doctor. These fees are school-specific and will range, so ensure that you check each institution\u2019s website information about cost\u2014the average cost is around $75.
