We always encourage applicants to apply when they truly feel ready and when they are most competitive.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>If you\u2019ve gone through the Committee Letter process, you will complete an updated (shorter) PATH process this time around. You won&#8217;t have to complete all of the steps you did the first time, but instead, will complete the following:<\/p>\n\n\n<section class=\"cl-wrapper cl-tabs-wrapper\"><div class=\"cl-tabs  \">\n<section class=\"cl-tab \"><h1>Letters of Recommendation<\/h1>\n\n<p>Letters of recommendation and committee letters are only good for the year you are applying. You&#8217;ll need to either request updated letters from your previous writers, or request new letters from different writers.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Requesting new or updated letters of recommendation: <\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Send an email to your letter writers from this cycle with the following:\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Thank them for writing your letter, and explain your plans<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Stay in touch with them throughout the year (a quick update on what you&#8217;ve been doing, etc.).&nbsp;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Request updated letters during application season next year<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>Asking new letters writers:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Ideally, you still should still have 2 letters from science faculty. <\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>However, you might have new experiences throughout your growth year(s) that provide an opportunity for new, updated letters that might better reflect who you are as a candidate now, rather than last cycle. <\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n<a class=\"cl-button  \" href=\"https:\/\/web.uri.edu\/prehealth\/asking-for-a-letter-of-recommendation\/\" title=\"\">asking for letters of recommendation<\/a>\n<\/section>\n\n<section class=\"cl-tab \"><h1>Update your PATH in Handshake<\/h1>\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Update experiences on your <a href=\"https:\/\/uri.joinhandshake.com\/login\">Handshake profile<\/a>, detailing the experiences you\u2019ve had throughout your growth year(s)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Complete a deferral\/reapplicant readiness and reflection form in Microsoft forms, providing additional information on who you have become as a candidate in your growth year(s).<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>You&#8217;ll be prompted to include your updated personal statement, resume\/CV and unofficial transcripts from all institutions (this includes any coursework you&#8217;ve done since graduating from URI, for instance, a master&#8217;s program).<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n<a class=\"cl-button  \" href=\"https:\/\/forms.cloud.microsoft\/Pages\/ResponsePage.aspx?id=jSptQs2cVUKJPQaGoywWjau1FPTk76NPhzU-8nkhNOlUNUNQN0xSQjZFVUg1VlkzQlZNTEs3UExXUi4u\" title=\"\">deferral and reapplicant form<\/a>\n<\/section>\n<\/div><\/section>\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\" \/>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">The deferral\/reapplicant committee letter will include: <\/h2>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>A new version of your committee letter that includes information about the ways in which you have improved your candidacy since your prior application.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>All new, updated individual letters of recommendation&nbsp;<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\" \/>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Deadline: <\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>The steps above need to be completed by May 1 (if the deadline falls on a weekend, please have it completed by the following Monday).<\/p>\n\n\n<div class=\"cl-date  \" data-hash=\"83f8b99768a1039c610cfaf7afa517ca\"><form method=\"post\" action=\"https:\/\/web.uri.edu\/prehealth\/wp-content\/plugins\/uri-component-library\/inc\/cl-ics.php\"><input type=\"hidden\" name=\"date_start\" value=\"20260501\"><input type=\"hidden\" name=\"summary\" value=\"Deadline: deferral or reapplicant steps completed\"><input type=\"hidden\" name=\"filename\" value=\"deadline-deferral-or-reapplicant-steps-completed.ics\"><input type=\"submit\" value=\"Add to Calendar\"><\/form><div class=\"cl-date-download-dialogue\"><div>Add to calendar?<\/div><div><div class=\"cl-date-download-cancel\">Cancel<\/div><div class=\"cl-date-download-confirm\">Add<\/div><\/div><\/div><div class=\"cl-date-content-wrapper\" title=\"Add to my calendar\"><div class=\"cl-date-content\"><div class=\"cl-date-download-indicator\"><\/div><div class=\"cl-date-month\">May<\/div><div class=\"cl-date-day\">1<\/div><\/div><\/div><div class=\"cl-date-caption-wrapper\"><div class=\"cl-date-caption\">Deadline: deferral or reapplicant steps completed<\/div><\/div><div class=\"cl-date-download-notice\">Check your downloads folder for<\/br>deadline-deferral-or-reapplicant-steps-completed.ics<\/div><\/div>\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\" \/>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Other Situations:<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>If you are considering re-application after two or more unsuccessful attempts to be admitted, or if you are reapplying after having already been admitted to a health profession school one or more times, please reach out to Pre-Health Career Pathways to make an appointment to discuss your application.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\" \/>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Alumni <\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Pre-Health Career Pathways supports URI alumni up to 3 years post-graduation.
