Most pesticides used in landscaping: such as weed and feed products and insecticides for grub and insect control are GUP\u2019s as well as most household and mosquito control products. For TDD 874-2285<\/p>\n\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">URI Pesticide Safety Exam Preparation Class<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>The URI Pesticide Safety Exam Preparation Class, now available via zoom,&nbsp;will help students understand the principles of pesticide application and RI Pesticide Control Law to prepare for the RI Department of Environmental Management\u2019s license exam.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The class is 2.5 hours long and will consist of a live interactive online presentation covering the information needed to help applicants pass the RIDEM commercial pesticide license exam.&nbsp;Study materials for the pesticide license will be sent to each applicant the day of the training. <strong>The cost is $175.00.&nbsp;<\/strong>Classes are held on a monthly basis.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n<a class=\"cl-button  block-level prominent\" href=\"https:\/\/cvent.me\/WO4P17\" title=\"\">Registration and Manuals<\/a>\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-columns is-layout-flex wp-container-core-columns-is-layout-9d6595d7 wp-block-columns-is-layout-flex\">\n<div class=\"wp-block-column is-layout-flow wp-block-column-is-layout-flow\">\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Type of RI Pesticide Licenses<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><em><strong>Commercial Applicator License<\/strong><\/em>&nbsp;is required if you work for hire to apply \u201cgeneral use\u201d (GUP) pesticides to control pests<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><em><strong>Commercial Applicator Certification<\/strong><\/em>&nbsp;is required if you work for hire to apply \u201crestricted use\u201d (RUP) pesticides<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><em><strong>Pesticide Dealer Certification<\/strong><\/em>&nbsp;is required if you sell \u201crestricted use\u201d (RUP) pesticides.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><em><strong>Private Applicator Certification<\/strong><\/em>&nbsp;is required to use \u201crestricted use\u201d (RUP) pesticides on agricultural commodities (e.g. vegetables, fruit, turf). No license\/certification is required for general use agricultural pesticides.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-column is-layout-flow wp-block-column-is-layout-flow\">\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Pesticide license and class registration<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>To obtain a pesticide applicators license to use General Use Products (GUP)<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Sign up for URI&#8217;s online Pesticide License Exam Preparation Class: Classes are offered frequently but are not mandatory. Search online for <strong>URI Pesticide Training Schedule [enter current year]<\/strong>.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Register for a class.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Take the exam via DEM\u2019s <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/dem.ri.gov\/natural-resources-bureau\/agriculture-and-forest-environment\/agriculture\/pesticides\/pesticide-safety-training\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">website<\/a><\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n<a class=\"cl-button   prominent\" href=\"https:\/\/dem.ri.gov\/natural-resources-bureau\/agriculture-and-forest-environment\/agriculture\/pesticides\/pesticide-safety-training \" title=\"\">RIDEM- Pesticide Safety &amp; IPM Training<\/a><\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Recertification<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Commercial applicators are required to obtain 8 recertification credits within every 5-year period after your initial license or certification. Private applicators are required to obtain 6 recertification credits every 5-year period after your initial certification. The Pesticide Safety Exam Preparation Class will provide 3 recertification credits for licensed or private applicators. Other recertification credits are offered via the training schedule.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Category training\/testing<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Pesticide <strong>Certification<\/strong> is required to use <strong>Restricted Use Pesticides<\/strong> (RUP). You must pass the license exam before you take a category exam. Category testing is offered online via &nbsp;the RI DEM <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/dem.ri.gov\/natural-resources-bureau\/agriculture-and-forest-environment\/agriculture\/pesticides\/pesticide-safety-training\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">website<\/a> <\/strong>for specific use categories (see below).
