As a psychology student at URI, you will have the opportunity to get involved in a variety of ongoing and groundbreaking research initiatives. Our department faculty have founded and\/or lead several such initiatives, related to their personal research expertise, passions and interests. Many of these programs are department-related, but some are university-wide initiatives, offering you opportunities to engage in psychology-related activities outside of your coursework.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Cancer Prevention Research Center (CPRC)<\/h2>

The CPRC is a research organization dedicated to helping people change their behavior for living longer, healthier lives. Led by Dr. James Prochaska, researchers at the CPRC work to develop behavior change technologies that address some of the most common human health threats, namely life-style factors like smoking, substance abuse, high risk sex, unhealthy diets and sedentary life styles.<\/p><\/div><\/div>

Psychological Consultation Center (PCC)<\/h2>

The PCC is a mental health service, research, and training facility established in 1968 as a training clinic for doctoral level graduate students in URI's Clinical, Behavioral Science, and School Psychology graduate programs. The PCC offers individual treatment options, adult assessment services, and a specialty clinic for children with anxiety.<\/p><\/div><\/div>

Behavior Change Research Center (BCRC)<\/h2>

The BCRC is located on the first floor of the Chafee Social Science Center that houses the Psychological Consultation Center (PCC), Quantitative Consultation Center (QCC), and several faculty laboratories and office space.<\/p><\/div><\/div>

Child Anxiety Program (CAP)<\/h2>

The Child Anxiety Program, housed within the Psychological Consultation Center and directed by Dr. Ellen Flannery-Schroeder, was established in 2004 as a specialty treatment program for children with anxiety disorders.<\/p><\/div><\/div>
