3\/17\/2026: Update on Previous Timely Notice \u2013\u00a0Arrest in Video Voyeurism Case<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

This message is an update to the Clery Act Timely Notice issued on March 10, 2026, regarding an individual suspected of video voyeurism on the Kingston Campus.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The URI Police Department has taken the suspect into custody. The investigation remains ongoing, and the individual is now facing criminal charges. No further threats to the campus community have been identified at this time.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

3\/10\/2026: Clery Act Timely Warning: Voyeurism Incidents<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

URI Police are investigating two incidents of suspected voyeurism that occurred in residence hall shower facilities on campus. Preliminary information is that a male suspect entered the shower areas and attempted to observe, photograph or video male occupants. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Incident Summary <\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Incident #1: March 6, 2026, approximately 9:15 p.m., Browning Hall all-gender bathroom, shower area.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Incident #2: March 9, 2026, approximately 11:38 p.m., Butterfield Hall men\u2019s bathroom, shower area. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

In both incidents, a male was observed attempting to record individuals while they were showering. The suspect fled the area before officers arrived. The police department is actively investigating these incidents and will provide updates to the community. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Investigation  <\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

The URI Police Department is actively investigating these incidents and has increased patrols in the area of residence halls. Anyone with information regarding this incident is encouraged to contact the URI Police Department at 401-874-4910 or submit an anonymous tip via 401-874-TIPS (8477). <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Safety Guidance <\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Report suspicious individuals or devices in bathrooms or showers. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Do not tamper with suspicious devices\u2014contact police. In these instances, a cell phone was used to capture images and\/or video. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Notify residence life staff or campus police if someone is loitering near shower facilities. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

2\/6\/2026: Beware of phishing scam targeting parking permits<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

The URI Police Department and Transportation and Parking (TAP) have recently become aware of a phishing scam targeting students\u2014particularly first-year students. In this scam, individuals claim they can secure a parking permit for the semester by adding your vehicle information to their account in exchange for payment.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Please be aware that the only way to obtain a parking permit is by logging in with your SSO through the AIMS student portal or by contacting the TAP office directly.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

If anyone contacts you offering a parking permit, or if you have purchased a \u201cpermit\u201d from an unknown source, please report it immediately to the URI Police Department (Det. Brasil: 401-874-5580) or TAP (401-874-9281). Do not share personal information, identification, money, or contact details.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

As a reminder, parking permits are non-transferable, non-shareable, and may be revoked by TAP at any time.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
