The conference will be held in conjunction with the University\u2019s annual Alexander M. Cruickshank Lecture. Cruickshank Lecture<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>The <a href=\"https:\/\/www.uri.edu\/news\/2021\/10\/quantum-computing-pioneer-umesh-vazirani-to-give-cruickshank-lecture-as-part-of-three-day-conference\/\"><strong>Alexander M. Cruickshank Lecture<\/strong>&nbsp;<\/a>(public lecture) will be delivered by&nbsp;<strong>Prof. Umesh Vazirani<\/strong>, Roger A. Strauch Professor of EECS and Co-Director of the Berkeley Quantum Computation Center (BQIC) at the University of California, Berkeley. Prof. Vazirani is one of the founders of quantum computing algorithms and a pioneer in the field of quantum complexity theory. URI\u2019s annual Alexander M. Cruickshank Lecture<strong>,&nbsp;<\/strong>which is endowed by the trustees of the Gordon Research Conferences and named to honor the former director Dr. Alexander Cruickshank who was also the former head of Chemistry at URI.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Monday, October 18th in the URI <a href=\"https:\/\/goo.gl\/maps\/AJsv85vc2f3e1Z549\">Beaupre Auditorium<\/a>. Reception 6:00PM, Lecture 6.30PM.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator\" \/>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Tuesday, October 19<\/strong>:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">R<strong>oundtable Discussion<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>A&nbsp;<strong>roundtable discussion on the future of quantum computing&nbsp;sponsored by&nbsp;<\/strong><em><strong>D-Wave<\/strong>&nbsp;<\/em>will be held Tuesday evening.
