All Investigators and Study Personnel should select the learner group,&nbsp;<strong>\u201cGroup I (Social Behavioral)\u201d<\/strong>&nbsp;or the&nbsp;<strong>Refresher Course<\/strong>&nbsp;when your certification for this learner group is close to expiration. The Refresher Course will be available 60 days prior to the expiration of your current CITI completion.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Good Clinical Practice (GCP):<\/strong>&nbsp;Investigators and Study Personnel conducting a clinical trial as&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/grants.nih.gov\/policy-and-compliance\/policy-topics\/clinical-trials\/definition\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">defined by NIH<\/a>&nbsp;should select the learner group, \u201c<strong>GCP for Clinical Trials with Investigational Drugs and Medical Devices (U.S. FDA Focus)<\/strong>.\u201d<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Animal Subjects Research:<\/strong> Investigators and Study Personnel conducting research involving vertebrate animals. Appropriate learner groups depend on the details of the research.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Biosafety:<\/strong> Investigators and Study Personnel conducting research involving biological materials (refresher training only).<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Financial Conflict of Interest:<\/strong> Investigators conducting research funded by a PHS agency or other agency following PHS Financial Conflict of Interest (FCOI) Regulations.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Responsible Conduct of Research:<\/strong> Graduate students with a research thesis or dissertation; post-doctoral researchers; researchers supported by National Science Foundation (NSF), National Institutes of Health (NIH), or U.S. Department of Agriculture National Institute of Food and Agriculture. Appropriate learner group depends on the discipline of the research; see \u201cRCR Course Options\u201d below for more details.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Export Controls:<\/strong> Investigators and Study Personnel using or purchasing Export Controlled equipment, software, or technology.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Research Security:<\/strong> Lead Principal Investigators and Key Personnel conducting research funded by any federal agency. All Lead Principal Investigators and Key Personnel should select the learner group, \u201c<strong>Research Security Training (Combined Course)<\/strong>.\u201d<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"access\">Accessing CITI Program and Enrolling in Courses<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>In 2022, the Division of Research and Economic Development implemented Single Sign On (SSO) for unified login into the CITI Program using university credentials and integration of the CITI Program certifications with the InfoEd System for Grants Management.&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.citiprogram.org\/portal?site=912\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Click here for CITI Program Direct Login via URI SSO<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Alternative method to log in from CITI Program website:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Visit the CITI Program Website:&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.citiprogram.org\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">https:\/\/www.citiprogram.org\/<\/a>.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Click on the \u201cLog In Through My Organization\u201d tab. In the provided search box, type organization\u2019s name (\u201cUniversity of Rhode Island\u201d). \u200bSelect your organization from the list that appears.\u200b<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>You will be redirected to your URI SSO login page. Enter your URI SSO credentials.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Account association for first-time SSO users:<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>If this is your first time accessing CITI via SSO and you have an existing CITI account, you may be prompted to link your existing account with your institutional login.\u200b\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Choose \u201cI already have a CITI Program account\u201d and provide your CITI Program username and password to merge accounts.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>If you do not have a CITI account, select \u201cI don\u2019t have a CITI Program account and I need to create one.\u201d\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Follow the prompts to complete the registration process, ensuring that your profile information is accurate and up to date.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"completing\">Completing Courses<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Available courses are listed on the landing page. Courses are classified as \u201cActive\u201d (i.e., in progress), \u201cCourses Ready to Begin,\u201d and \u201cCompleted Courses.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Click the \u201cContinue Course\u201d button to continue a course that is currently in progress.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Click the \u201cStart Now\u201d button to begin a course.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Click the \u201cReview Course\u201d button to review the content of a completed course.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>Courses generally take from 30 minutes \u2013 3 hours to complete. Courses need not be completed in one sitting.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>When you have completed all the required modules successfully, you will be able to save a copy of your completion certificate. Please retain a copy of the certificate for your records. You can also access your completion certificate by clicking the \u201cView \u2013 Print \u2013 Share Record\u201d button for any completed course.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Note: CITI course completions are integrated into the InfoEd system automatically, so you will not need to upload your completion certificates. CITI course completions are&nbsp;<strong>not&nbsp;<\/strong>integrated into IRBNet, so you will be required to upload your CITI completion certificate with every protocol submitted on IRBNet.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"adding\">Adding New Courses<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>At the bottom of the landing page under \u201cLearner Tools for University of Rhode Island\u201d click \u201cAdd a Course.\u201d On this page you will be presented with all the modules available through CITI.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Scroll through the questions and choose the modules that fit your specific needs. Press \u201cSubmit\u201d when done selecting courses.\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Note: Choosing a module does not mean you necessarily have to complete it. It will only make these modules available for completion. See the top of this page for course requirements.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"rcr-courses\">Responsible Conduct of Research (RCR) Course Options<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>CITI provides RCR training courses specific to your field of study. Any of these courses will satisfy the RCR requirement. Choose the option that best relates to your work at URI:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>RCR for Biomedical Researchers<br>RCR for Social\/Behav\/Ed Researchers<br>RCR for Physical Science Researchers<br>RCR for Engineering Researchers<br>RCR for Arts\/Humanities Researchers<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>NOTE:<\/strong>&nbsp;Please maintain a copy of your CITI completion report as proof of having successfully completed the appropriate training course.
