See the CBRC Per Diem and Additional Services Rates document for details.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Per Diem and Additional Services Rates<\/strong><br>Per diem rates are based on the cost analysis and recovery procedures delineated in the\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/grants.nih.gov\/grants\/policy\/air\/rate_setting_manual_2000.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">National Institutes of Health (NIH) Cost Analysis and Rate Setting Manual for Animal Research Facilities<\/a>. A portion of animal care costs are subsidized by the Division of Research and Economic Development. Per diem rates are reviewed and adjusted annually, and investigators are notified in advance of changes. For grant budgetary projections, an 8 \u2013 10% annual increase in per diem rates is customary.<br><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Per Diem Rates<\/strong><br>The CBRC charges per diem based on the species, the number of animals housed, and the type of care the animals receive. Per diem rates are based on the cost analysis and recovery procedures delineated in the <a href=\"https:\/\/grants.nih.gov\/grants\/policy\/air\/rate_setting_manual_2000.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">National Institutes of Health (NIH) Cost Analysis and Rate Setting Manual for Animal Research Facilities<\/a>. Approximately 70% of animal care costs are subsidized by the Division of Research and Economic Development. Per diem rates are reviewed and adjusted annually, and investigators are notified in advance of changes. For grant budgetary projections, an increase in per diem of 3-5% annually is recommended.<\/p>\n\n\n<a class=\"cl-button  block-level prominent\" href=\"https:\/\/uri0.sharepoint.com\/sites\/DREDPolicyRevisions\/Shared%20Documents\/Forms\/AllItems.aspx?id=%2Fsites%2FDREDPolicyRevisions%2FShared%20Documents%2FWebsite%20Documents%2FORI%20Comparative%20Biology%20Resources%20Center%20CBRC%2FCBRC%20Per%20Diem%20and%20Additional%20Services%20Rates%202026%2Epdf&amp;parent=%2Fsites%2FDREDPolicyRevisions%2FShared%20Documents%2FWebsite%20Documents%2FORI%20Comparative%20Biology%20Resources%20Center%20CBRC\" title=\"\">CBRC Per Diem and Additional Services Rates 2026\u00a0<\/a>\n\n\n<p><br><strong>Fee Payment<\/strong><br>Investigators receive monthly CBRC invoices, which include charges for daily care of animals (i.e., per diem) and other animal related charges. Examples of other charges are special veterinary technical services, surgical services, and the purchase of medication and\/or supplies.<br><br>Upon invoice receipt, promptly review the charges, provide the Chartfield String (CFS) to be charged, and sign. An <a href=\"https:\/\/web.uri.edu\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/150\/PeopleSoftPurchasingIVRequisition2-15-12.pdf\">Internal Value Purchase Order (IVPO)<\/a> must be issued to vendor ID URI_CBRC and the receiving report must be signed.\u00a0 Return the signed invoice and signed receiving report to\u00a0<a href=\"mailto:emcvey@uri.edu\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Ellen McVey<\/a>\u00a0for processing.<br><br>The CBRC strives to work closely with investigators regarding issues of timely release of grant monies targeted for animal costs from sponsored programs.
