Additionally, all staff and students conducting research with animals must be listed on an approved IACUC protocol.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>To access the courses, first <a href=\"https:\/\/www.citiprogram.org\/Secure\/Welcome.cfm?inst=912\" data-type=\"link\" data-id=\"https:\/\/www.citiprogram.org\/Secure\/Welcome.cfm?inst=912\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">create a free account with Collaborative Institutional Training Initiative (CITI)<\/a>, affiliate with the University of Rhode Island as part of the account set-up, then select the course(s) you wish to complete. For more information on how to navigate the CITI website, please refer to the <a href=\"https:\/\/web.uri.edu\/research-admin\/integrity-security\/compliance-training\/\" data-type=\"page\" data-id=\"2887\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">URI CITI Guidance<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The following CITI training courses are available:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Investigators, Staff and Students, Basic Course (Working with the IACUC)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Post-Procedure Care of Mice and Rats in Research: Reducing Pain and Distress&nbsp;<em>(To access the module, select the course described as, \u201cI am involved in studies that have the potential to cause more than momentary pain and distress in mice or rats\u201d.)<\/em><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Working with Amphibians in a Research Setting<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Working with Mice in Research Settings<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Working with Rats in Research Settings<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Working with Hamsters in Research Settings<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Working with Gerbils in Research Settings<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Working with Guinea Pigs in Research Settings<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Working with Rabbits in Research Settings<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Working with Swine in Research Settings<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Working with Fish in Research Settings<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Wildlife Research<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Working with Reptiles in Research Settings<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Working with Cattle in Agricultural Research Settings<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Working with Horses in an Agricultural Research Setting<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Working with Sheep and Goats in Research Setting<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Working with Poultry in Agricultural Research Settings<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Webinars:&nbsp;<\/strong>CITI Webinar Package includes webinars on a wide range of topics important to researchers and students.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Brightspace Online Training<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The following training course is available on Brightspace (a requirement for field studies with wild animals and for those working with farm animals) available through the <a href=\"https:\/\/web.uri.edu\/ehs\/training_schedule\/training_registration_form\/\" data-type=\"link\" data-id=\"https:\/\/web.uri.edu\/ehs\/training_schedule\/training_registration_form\/\">EHS training registration page<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>&nbsp;Zoonotic Diseases<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Facility Orientation<\/strong><br>All new users (staff or students) of laboratory animals (e.g., mice, rats, rabbits, hamsters, guinea pigs) and the animal facilities must attend a mandatory facility orientation and tour. Facility orientation sessions are offered on an as needed basis.
