Biological Research involving recombinant DNA (rDNA), biological agents (i.e., viable infectious microorganisms (including prions) regardless of their pathogenicity to humans), human or nonhuman primate materials (e.g., blood, cells, tissue), or certain biological toxins requires biosafety training and an Institutional Biosafety Committee (IBC) Registration. All staff and students must complete <a href=\"https:\/\/web.uri.edu\/ehs\/training_schedule\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">biosafety training<\/a> provided by EH&amp;S and be listed on an approved <a href=\"https:\/\/web.uri.edu\/research-admin\/office-of-research-integrity\/biosafety-committee\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">IBC Registration<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>If you have an occupational concern involving biological agents, complete the Health Form for Animal or Laboratory Facilities Use or contact <a href=\"mailto:health@uri.edu\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">health@uri.edu<\/a> or 401-874-2246 and ask for the occupational health nurse practitioner for a confidential medical consultation.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Work with certain biological agents may require medical counseling, medical surveillance, and immunization.
