{"id":183,"date":"2013-07-18T02:20:15","date_gmt":"2013-07-18T06:20:15","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.gosplatypus.com\/riwoods\/?page_id=183"},"modified":"2022-09-07T11:38:32","modified_gmt":"2022-09-07T15:38:32","slug":"learning-opportunities","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/web.uri.edu\/rhodeislandwoods\/learning-opportunities\/","title":{"rendered":"Learning Opportunities"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>Rhode Island Coverts Training<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>We are pleased to periodically offer workshop opportunities to private forest landowners in Rhode Island to learn about and help enhance much-needed wildlife habitat on their properties by becoming &#8220;Coverts Cooperators.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>The <strong><em>Rhode Island Coverts Project <\/em><\/strong>is an education program designed to help forest landowners and stewards promote the development of critical wildlife habitats using sound forest management practices that can make wildlife healthier, more diverse and abundant. <strong><em>Coverts <\/em><\/strong>or thickets are patches of young forest or shrublands created though forest management. The project has trained landowners from across the state through its workshops that focus on forest ecology and stewardship, wildlife management, and land conservation.<\/p>\n<p><strong>&#8220;Take the training &#8211; you will never think about wildlife the same again!&#8221;<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The next Coverts training is scheduled for <strong>Saturday, October 15<\/strong>, and is <strong>free to all participants<\/strong>.
