This is a full-time, immersive experience requiring students to work full-time in their assigned laboratory. Students are primarily assigned to labs at URI and Brown. Students may express interest in working with a specific mentor, but we do not guarantee assignment to that lab.&nbsp; <strong>No prior research experience required!<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<h2>Dates<\/h2>\n<p>The 2026 program will run from May 26 through July 31, 2026.<br \/>\nStudents are required to attend training at URI on the first day of orientation (late May) and to present a poster in July\/August 2026 at URI. Other professional development sessions may also be required during the 10-week period.<\/p>\n<h2>Support<\/h2>\n<p>Students will receive a salary of up to $6,400 over the 10-week period (proportional to hours worked). RIPTA bus passes may be available based on need. Housing is the responsibility of the student.<\/p>\n<h2>Eligibility<\/h2>\n<p>\u25cf Applicants must be Rhode Island residents or attend a Rhode Island college or university<br \/>\nas an undergraduate and must be enrolled in a STEM field.<br \/>\n\u25cf Applications from other INBRE states will be considered on a case-by-case basis.<br \/>\n\u25cf Applicants must be US citizens or permanent residents.<br \/>\n\u25cf Applicants must not have previously participated in the RI-INBRE or RI-NEST SURF programs.<br \/>\n\u25cf Accepted applicants may have no other jobs on campus (including as residential<br \/>\nassistants) during the 10-week period.<br \/>\n\u25cf Applicants must be able to work 30-40 hours per week during normal laboratory hours.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone wp-image-36995 size-large\" src=\"https:\/\/web.uri.edu\/riinbre\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/1497\/IMGP8542_1500.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"1000\" height=\"744\"><\/p>\n<p>Applicants accepted into the program should expect to be contacted via email mid March &#8211; through early April.<\/p>\n<section class=\"cl-wrapper cl-quote-wrapper\"><div class=\"cl-quote  \"><blockquote>I am so pleased to celebrate the renewal of the federal grant to continue this important work over the next five years.
