McDonald presented \u201cDesigning Reactive and Responsive&nbsp;Organochemical Systems\u201d at the University of Rhode Island\u2019s Chemistry Seminar on May 2nd.<\/p>\n<p>An Assistant Professor of Chemistry and Affiliate Faculty of Engineering at Brown University, Dr. McDonald&#8217;s research area includes Nano and Materials Chemistry and Organic Chemistry.<\/p>\n<p>McDonald is a recipient of RI-INBRE\u2019s Early Career Development (ECD) award (2022-2024) entitled &#8220;Photonic thin films for the colorimetric detection of waterborne pollutants.&#8221; His research focuses on developing new materials to indicate quantities of harmful microbes and chemical pollutants in drinking water, and provide the foundation for a variety of portable chemical sensors.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>2022 Seminar Series Designing Reactive and Responsive Organochemical Systems Dr. Benjamin R.
