{"id":33367,"date":"2022-12-12T12:04:54","date_gmt":"2022-12-12T17:04:54","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/web.uri.edu\/riinbre\/?p=33367"},"modified":"2023-08-28T11:58:15","modified_gmt":"2023-08-28T15:58:15","slug":"crcf-student-tours","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/web.uri.edu\/riinbre\/crcf-student-tours\/","title":{"rendered":"CRCF Student Tours"},"content":{"rendered":"<h2>CRCF Student Tours<\/h2>\n<h3>Roger Williams University\u2019s Biotechnology Student Visit<\/h3>\n<p>On October 21st, students from <strong>Dr. Avelina Espinosa<\/strong>\u2019s Biotechnology class and&nbsp;Lab (BIO340+L) at Roger Williams University (RWU) visited the CRCF to learn about DNA sequencing, as discussed by <strong>Janet Atoyan<\/strong>, while <strong>Dr. Ang Cai<\/strong> concentrated on the tools for protein purification and analysis.<\/p>\n<p>In the laboratory-intensive course, students acquire core skill sets relevant to cloning<img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright wp-image-33689 size-full\" src=\"https:\/\/web.uri.edu\/riinbre\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/1497\/2022-RWU-Espinosa-Visit-400x299-1.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"400\" height=\"299\" srcset=\"https:\/\/web.uri.edu\/riinbre\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/1497\/2022-RWU-Espinosa-Visit-400x299-1.jpg 400w, https:\/\/web.uri.edu\/riinbre\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/1497\/2022-RWU-Espinosa-Visit-400x299-1-300x224.jpg 300w, https:\/\/web.uri.edu\/riinbre\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/1497\/2022-RWU-Espinosa-Visit-400x299-1-364x272.jpg 364w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 400px) 100vw, 400px\" \/> specific genes, and the application techniques are used in evolutionary biology, forensics, marine biotechnology, and medicine. The junior and senior students in attendance included former RI-INBRE SURF participants.<\/p>\n<p>Dr. Espinosa, a RI-INBRE investigator with Faculty Development, Student Training, and SURF awards, has trained numerous RI-INBRE supported students.
