Do you have a budding idea for a research project, but need to formulate it? Do you want to collaborate with a new colleague? Maybe an industry or community partner? The RI Network for Excellence in Science and Technology’s<\/strong> (RI-NEST) Seed Grant program may be for you. <\/p>\n

\n

Seed funding will catalyze innovative projects strengthen Rhode Island\u2019s research ecosystem and support proposals that embody transdisciplinary<\/a>, use-inspired<\/a> approaches. We encourage unique partnerships between academia, industry, the Narragansett Indian Tribe, and community organizations. By funding high-impact projects, RI-NEST seeks to strengthen the state\u2019s research competitiveness and workforce development capacity for its citizens, and support long-term societal and economic growth.<\/span><\/p>\n

RI-NEST Goals<\/h1>

Strengthen<\/b> workforce development by broadening opportunities for research and education, which in turn creates pathways to careers in tech and research industries.                        <\/p>\n

Catalyze<\/b> partnerships by seeding diverse and use-inspired research, focusing on small businesses that increase competitiveness in Rhode Island’s Blue Economy and retain STEAM graduates from state institutions of higher education.<\/p>\n

Implement<\/b> opportunities for science communication, visualization, and data sharing to improve translation of science for understanding and use by a broad spectrum of partners, and increase funding into the state.<\/p>\n
