This program provides opportunities for participants to experiment with new and innovative ways to create and use visual imagery and language.<\/p>\n<h2>By participating, you will:<\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li class=\"code shortcode\">Gain opportunity to critique traditional models of scientific communication and develop potential new formats and methods<\/li>\n<li class=\"code shortcode\">Work directly with RISD Faculty to gain insight on your own research concerning visualization theory and outcomes<\/li>\n<li class=\"code shortcode\">Engage in a space where you are comfortable experimenting with new ideas for research visualization and collaboration<\/li>\n<li class=\"code shortcode\">Earn credit towards the <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/metcalfinstitute.org\/careerdevelopment\/\">RI C-AIM Career Development Program Certificate.<\/a><\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2>Eligibility<\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li class=\"code shortcode\">Open to any undergraduate, graduate student or post-doc conducting STEM research at any of RI C-AIM&#8217;s <a href=\"https:\/\/web.uri.edu\/rinsfepscor\/partnering-institutions\/\"><strong>partner institutions<\/strong>.<\/a><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<div class=\"cl-tiles thirds\" style=\"margin-top: 2rem\">\n<a class=\"cl-button   prominent\" href=\"https:\/\/web.uri.edu\/rinsfepscor\/2021-vis-a-thon-registration\/\" title=\"\">Apply<\/a><a class=\"cl-button   prominent\" href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/channel\/UChnA3TpCVqmmADIekVMySiA?pbjreload=102\" title=\"\">2020 Projects<\/a><a class=\"cl-button   prominent\" href=\"https:\/\/metcalfinstitute.org\/careerdevelopment\/\" title=\"\">Career Development Program<\/a><\/div>\n<div>&nbsp;<\/div>\n<h2>Program Dates<\/h2>\n<p><strong>FRIDAY, March 5<\/strong> is the <strong>Visualization Intensive<\/strong>: a day-long seminar aimed at increasing the visual literacy of participants through workshops, breakout sessions, and lectures concerning arts-based visualization in science as both an analytical tool and communicative effort. Participants, in groups or individually, will develop and propose visualization projects to be created over a two-day period. Online only session.<\/p>\n<p><strong>SATURDAY + SUNDAY, March 27-28<\/strong> is the <strong>Vis-a-thon Weekend<\/strong>: a two-day event where participants will work directly with RISD faculty to develop and enact their project proposals. Participants will be connected with technicians and labs needed to further their visualization research. Online and in-person hybrid sessions.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Participants must be available for both parts of the program.
