SMITHFIELD, R.I. – Twenty-four students from Central Falls and Woonsocket high schools head to the Bryant campus on Friday, May 6, for some hands-on experimentation in the University’s science labs.<\/p>\n
Their trip, sponsored by Bryant University’s Science and Technology Department and\u00a0R.I. EPSCoR, is part of an initiative to expose economically disadvantaged high school students to college-level science experiences.<\/p>\n
The students – participants in the\u00a0R.I. Educational Talent Search\u00a0program – will create a microbial fuel cell, learn about bacteria and how a fuel cell works, will collect and analyze data, and will discus what water sources provide the best microbial community for generating electricity.<\/p>\n
