For background information:\u00a0<a href=\"\/\/www.whitehouse.gov\/blog\/2014\/06\/04\/first-ever-white-house-maker-faire-celebrating-nation-makers\">Maker movement and Nation of Makers Program<\/a>.\u00a0 As noted on\u00a0the <a href=\"http:\/\/fab.cba.mit.edu\/about\/faq\/\">MIT web site<\/a>,\u00a0<em>\u2018<\/em><em>Fab labs provide widespread access to modern means for invention. Fab labs comprise equipment and materials that can be used today to do what will be possible with tomorrow&#8217;s personal fabricators.&#8221;\u00a0<\/em><\/p>\n<p>FAB Newport\u2019s current focus is on transitioning Make Education Initiatives such as digital fabrication and embedded processors into formal and informal STEAM education.<\/p>\n<h3><strong>What we offer<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p>Programs for K-4, 5-8, 9-12 and the general community in:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>2D design and fabrication<\/li>\n<li>3D design and fabrication<\/li>\n<li>\u00a0Computational thinking\/computer science<\/li>\n<li>\u00a0Embedded processors<\/li>\n<li>\u00a0Electronics<\/li>\n<li>\u00a0Composites<\/li>\n<li>\u00a0Molding and casting.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3><strong>Key needs<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p>FAB Newport seeks to become a distribution point for EPSCoR K-12 outreach materials.
