She earned her BS in Applied Plant Biology and a PhD in Cell Biology from the University of Lisbon, Portugal. After postdoctoral research at the University of Durham and the University of Oxford, she joined FDA\u2019s NCTR in 2007.<\/p>\n<p>Her research focuses on the pharmacokinetics and toxicity of FDA-regulated products, including compounds such as bisphenol A, di(2-ethylhexyl) phthalate, and cannabidiol. More recently, Dr. Camacho has spearheaded efforts to evaluate alternative skin models for predicting dermal absorption and irritation.<\/p>\n<p>Dr. Camacho is a prolific author with over 40 peer-reviewed publications and serves as an expert in international working groups, including the International Agency for Research on Cancer.
