&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;DATE 10\/16\/18<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>MEETING START TIME:<\/strong> 6:20PM<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>ATTENDANCE: <\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Committee:<\/strong> Chair Morabito, Vice Chair Nelson, Senator McGrath, Senator Leach<\/p>\n<p><strong>Absent:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Non-Committee:<\/strong> Senator Menard<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>DISCUSSION: <\/strong><\/p>\n<p>TOPIC 1: Freenters<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Phone call interview with Johnny<\/li>\n<li>Use our existing printers, their software can comply with our printers<\/li>\n<li>Every four pages would be an advertisement, or a coupon\/deal for local businesses<\/li>\n<li>We cannot sign off on it we can only support it with a resolution bill<\/li>\n<li>Only do black and white, no color printing<\/li>\n<li>Want to have an optional service to pay with your ram account or print for free with adds<\/li>\n<li>There is no maintenance or implementation fee<\/li>\n<li>\u201cno fees coming to URI\u201d<\/li>\n<li>Willing to do a trial\u2026one year contract<\/li>\n<li>Doing this at 23 other universities including the University of Chicago and University of Boston<\/li>\n<li>Want to contact the other colleges to see from their perspective about how this works<\/li>\n<li>Use a service called print release to work towards reforestation<\/li>\n<li>Duplex customization so that you can choose to either do single side or double sided paper<\/li>\n<li>School can pick what kind of advertisements they want or don\u2019t want<\/li>\n<li>We want to work with the library or the union first before we advertise it to the different colleges<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>TOPIC 2: Liaisons<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Part of student senate is working with the different elements of the school like different committees like the library, faculty senate, honor program, university calendar committee etc.<\/li>\n<li>Hand out a sign-up sheet during general senate<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>TOPIC 3: Academic Intro<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Academic calendar, bookstore, library, professors, exams, etc.<\/li>\n<li>Getting word out about the ombuds<\/li>\n<li>We take academic complaints<\/li>\n<li>Final exam rights<\/li>\n<li>Build your own major program<\/li>\n<li>Affordable course materials<\/li>\n<li>Donations for school supplies<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>TOPIC 4: Meeting with the Provost<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Johnny is meeting with the provost on 30<sup>th<\/sup> of October<\/li>\n<li>Going to talk about election day<\/li>\n<li>Want to focus on goals and plans for the future<\/li>\n<li>Some people have finals on Saturday<\/li>\n<li>Professors don\u2019t communicate course materials well enough<\/li>\n<li>Johnny will email Paul Whitney about legislations that professors are required to inform the books store of the course materials<\/li>\n<li>Bookstore is having a 5 dollar book sale where all the old books you can fit into a bag for 5 dollars<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Extra:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>MEETING ADJOURNMENT TIME: 7:12PM<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>ACADEMIC COMMITTEE MINUTES&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;
