{"id":11642,"date":"2018-12-13T10:36:44","date_gmt":"2018-12-13T15:36:44","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/web.uri.edu\/studentsenate\/?p=11642"},"modified":"2018-12-13T10:36:44","modified_gmt":"2018-12-13T15:36:44","slug":"academic-12-4-18","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/web.uri.edu\/studentsenate\/academic-12-4-18\/","title":{"rendered":"Academic 12-4-18"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><b>MEETING START TIME:<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"> 6:20PM<\/span><\/p>\n<p><b>ATTENDANCE: <\/b><\/p>\n<p><b>Committee:<\/b> <span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Chair Morabito, Vice Chair Nelson, Senator Leach, Senator D\u2019Aguanno, Senator McGrath, Senator Menard, Senator Morris<\/span><\/p>\n<p><b>Absent:<\/b><\/p>\n<p><b>Non-Committee:<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"> Senator Baglini, President Wilding<\/span><\/p>\n<p><b>DISCUSSION: <\/b><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">TOPIC 1: Menard\u2019s Sakai Resolution<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Resolution calling for student senate to be involved in any potential replacement of the sakai platform<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">IT strategic governance committee is a faculty senate committee that is already represented by senate via President Wilding being a representative<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Menard still wants more than one voice of student senate on the committee regarding deciding the new platform<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Online Learning Management system is a committee with one student representative, Ariana Lebutti, is the committee handling the decision for which new platform will be used<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">The CIO of the IT government is coming to public forum tomorrow<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Tophat is not going to be used as a learning management system and will not replace sakai but it will help aid professors in taking attendance <\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Carliss can also answer questions on Tophat<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">IT gov has been trying to come to senate for over a year and has not showed up to the dates they signed up for<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">President wilding can get IT gov members to come to senate to discuss what platforms they are interested in <\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Good thing about this is that it\u2019s vote next semester which will give IT gov time to look over this before it is voted on<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Motion to have Academic Affairs Committee sponsor this bill (6-0-1)<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Committee recognition (5-0-2)<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">TOPIC 2: Menard\u2019s Wiley Plus Resolution<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Resolution calling for the University of Rhode Island and Faculty Senate to reconsider their use of any John Wiley &amp;
