Roll Call:<\/b> Senators Zawatski, Garcia , Oliver, Bertel, Gold,Woodkock , Kidd, Succi, Egan<\/p>\n
Non-senators: Jeremiah Bromell<\/p>\n
1. Advising <\/b><\/p>\n
-Faculty senate and UC create a committee to research new options to make advising better.<\/p>\n
-President Maynard wants two academic committee members to join this committee Next semester at Thursday around 4<\/p>\n
2. Flyer for Final Rights <\/b><\/p>\n
-Senator Bertel and Walker talk with DOM about the flyer<\/p>\n
-Zawatsky to tell to DOC about promoting it in social media<\/p>\n
-Brief overview of what final rights are to new senators<\/p>\n
-Deadline for the flyer is 4\/16<\/p>\n
-Flyering distribution to be assigned<\/p>\n
3. General Education Courses <\/b><\/p>\n
-Classes they are in the blue GenEd book and catalog that are required for graduation are not being offering in different colleges and majors<\/p>\n
-We need a faculty senate liaison<\/p>\n
-We need to target faculty senate, office of the provost to raise awareness about this group<\/p>\n
-Survey, focus groups, GenEd book evaluation<\/p>\n
-Connect GenEd handbook and websites had discrepancies between requirements for major<\/p>\n
-We will compare the GenEd handbook and websites for two semesters. Resources need to be updated.<\/p>\n
-Student struggle with the limited class offerings, limited time slot, and one semester classes, and class availability in general.<\/p>\n
-Possible video about<\/p>\n
-Zawatski and Garcia to work on questionnaires for the focus group for next Wednesday at 5pm<\/p>\n
4.Minors <\/b><\/p>\n
-Increase awareness of minors<\/p>\n
-Increase attendance to Majors and Minors Fair<\/p>\n
5. Academic Complaint System <\/b><\/p>\n
-More marketing for it<\/p>\n
-Ombud had not being active or effective<\/p>\n
-Increase pressure to the provost to find a faculty member to take over the Ombud<\/p>\n
-Increase awareness of ACS to the deans of different colleges<\/p>\n
-DOC and DOM to increase accessibility to the online ACS<\/p>\n
-Create Facebook page or create at tab in the current senate page<\/p>\n
6. Liaisons <\/b><\/p>\n
– Spread the word more about their positions<\/p>\n
-Talk to Kim about getting business cards for the liaisons<\/p>\n
7. Professor Evaluations <\/b><\/p>\n
-Procedure needs to be follow for when students are completing applications<\/p>\n
