President\u2019s Report
\n\u2022 Project Adventure:
\no May be filing a lawsuit
\nEvery public worker needs to have prevailing wages
\nURI Senate only paid for the climbing wall but we may need to pay for the entire project that was completed by Project<\/p>\n
Adventure
\n\u2022 RIC\u2019s Student Senate President wants to do an AIDS walk with us
\no Early October?
\no Cultural and Campus (Camptural) can collaborate on this<\/p>\n
\u2022 All Exec members need to post office hours<\/p>\n
\u2022 Brown students contacted us about bringing an app they created to URI
\no Ventful
\n1. Allows students to know what is taking place on campus
\n2. Syncs your classes to the master calendar that tells you what is taking place on campus for the week
\n3. You can update your preferences about the types of events taking place (Academic, Cultural, etc)
\n4. Students can save\/pin the events they like and it syncs to their schedule
\n5. IT WILL BE FREE TO USE!
\n6. Hoping to get this up by second semester
\n7. CIO can help with this?<\/p>\n
\u2022 Proposal: condom-dispensing vending machines
\no The selling of condoms would possibly go to a charity
\no The idea has already been brought up to faculty
\no Health services may help fund this
\no If Senate funds this then the condoms will be charged for profit
\no More information is needed before decisions are made
\no Maintenance of the vending machine will be where most of the money goes<\/p>\n
Vice President Report
\n\u2022 Senate Scholarship will be starting up soon
\no Need to market\/advertise
\n\u2022 Idea to do a Senate Retreat instead of a Senate Ropes Course
\no October 4th (Saturday) as possible day
\no Safezone training
\nWill do advanced safezone for those who already received basic training
\n\u2022 Let VP Hetland know who is showing up to your meetings<\/p>\n
CIO Report
\n\u2022 By next Exec meeting the Robert\u2019s Rule quiz will be ready to view
\no Cheat sheet for senators will be provided
\n\u2022 Will be meeting with liaisons after meeting on Wednesday
\no Idea to promote liaison report adherence: If reports are submitted on time, a giant cookie will be made for Senate
\n\u2022 Senator Garcia wants a liaison position made for environmental issues on campus
\n\u2022 Kim does not want to do club websites off of the Senate website because it will be hard to manage once current CIO leaves
\no Look into this issue<\/p>\n
External Report
\n\u2022 Met with new police force
\n\u2022 Met with Mary Jo
\no Report of police activity for this past weekend in Narragansett:
\n1.\u00a0 67 total arrests
\n2.\u00a0 60 noise complaints
\n3.\u00a0 26 cases of minors with alcohol
\n4.\u00a0 5 cases of minors driving as DD with alcohol in car
\n5.\u00a0 7 cases of open containers in the car
\n6.\u00a0 17 social hosts, 4 of those homes now have orange stickers
\n7.\u00a0 3 DUI\u2019s
\n8.\u00a0 Littering<\/p>\n
\u2022 Meeting with lawyer soon
\n\u2022 Kilduff and Maynard will go on a ride with police to see what takes place on a Friday\/Saturday night. Want to make sure that police are doing their job and being fair<\/p>\n

\n\u2022 2 complaints:
\no Butterfield lights: People do not feel safe in that area
\no Parking
\n1.\u00a0 A huge part of Keaney lot has been given to members of Greek system.
\n2.\u00a0 Many unused spaces by them that can\u2019t be accessed by anyone else<\/p>\n
\u2022 Safety and Lighting is October 9th
\n\u2022 Uber has been contacting Campus
\n\u2022 Working on getting marketing done for Zipcar
\n\u2022 Working on doing a campus cleanup<\/p>\n
SOARC:
\n\u2022 Wants to change funding to funded\/unfunded
\n\u2022 Re-rec: only Amanda can do signatures!!
\n– Closes the 3rd
\n\u2022 Working on recognizing Power Lifting Team (with Budget Line)
\n\u2022 Working on recognizing SAA
\n\u2022 A Capella groups want to be recognized
\n– Will be recognized separately based on mission statement<\/p>\n
Finance Report
\n\u2022 Kathleen (DOC) says let her know how you liked the newsletter
\n\u2022 Finance is going to buy a new computer
\no Need to get bids from groups who are applying for the computer
\n\u2022 Draft will be coming on the floor this Wednesday for the Finance Handbook
\no Will be voting it on it next week
\no Inventory System is something new that will be added to the handbook
\no We have applications for inventory clerk
\n-Should we hire 2? It will provide more flexibility.
\n\u2022 Mandatory meeting for Finance will be Tuesday September 23rd at 7PM, in the Ballroom<\/p>\n
Secretary Report:
\n\u2022 Electronic voting: waiting on Enrollment Services
\no Going to see Bruce about how to tackle this
\n\u2022 Contacted vice-chairs over the summer regarding correct way to send minutes
\nCultural Report<\/p>\n
– Going to a retreat in Boston to learn about costs\/etc for putting this together
\n– SAA and SEC want to help with this!!
\n– Working on location<\/p>\n

\n– Cultural Committee will be doing an event at 4PM that Friday
