(to be printed in style of check list)<\/li>\n<li>Know who you\u2019re living with<\/li>\n<li>Talk to present tenants<\/li>\n<li>Review lease carefully, with parents and landlord<\/li>\n<li>DO THE DAMAGE LIST + Pictures* or video (VERY VERY HELPFUL)<\/li>\n<li>If you notice damages throughout the year, tell your landlord (eg: a rip in couch gets bigger, etc.)<\/li>\n<li>Go over budget\/payment options (do you want to pay monthly, semesterly?)<\/li>\n<li>KNOW YOUR RIGHTS (review Tenant Handbook)<\/li>\n<li>Pet Policies (in lease usually)<\/li>\n<li>Set up Utilities (determine distribution of utilities, make sure party is responsible)- figure out if it\u2019s heat, oil, natural gas, know your budget.<\/li>\n<li>Chose location wisely (scarborough, bonnet, pier), estimate commute time before classes start<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>o\u00a0\u00a0 Determine transportation methods (personal car, bus, etc. )<\/p>\n<p>o\u00a0\u00a0 Bus routes available at www.ripta.com<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>WHEN YOU MOVE IN:<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>o\u00a0\u00a0 Damage list asap!!! (See above)<\/p>\n<p>o\u00a0\u00a0 GET TO KNOW YOUR NEIGHBORS (Especially residential) Give them your cell phone number, etc.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Help them with their driveway during winter, etc. (They\u2019ll like you and wont call the police on you!)<\/li>\n<li>BE SMART WHEN HAVING SOCIAL GATHERINGS!!
