DISCUSSION: <\/strong><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Musician Guild asking for money for Amplifiers without which, concerts cannot be held<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Musician\u2019s Guild \u2013 hosting concerts<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>o\u00a0\u00a0 Over the summer, the power amp died during the orientation show<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Classic PA failure<\/li>\n<li>May have been because the monitors and speakers were ru off the same system<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>o\u00a0\u00a0 Power Amp = device that allows the PA system to work<\/p>\n<p>o\u00a0\u00a0 Sound cannot be run without a power amp<\/p>\n<p>o\u00a0\u00a0 Monitors need a second power amp to provide sound for the performers<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Why need two if only one failed?<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>o\u00a0\u00a0 Musician\u2019s guild talked to WRIU<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>WRIU says that the Power amp should be able to provide double the power of the speakers<\/li>\n<li>Running the Monitors and Speakers are not recommended<\/li>\n<li>Didn\u2019t know how needed the double amps are until talked to WRIU<\/li>\n<li>That\u2019s why it wasn\u2019t included in the earlier requests<\/li>\n<li>Events coming up<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>o\u00a0\u00a0 SAA asked about a workshop for Sound Tech<\/p>\n<p>o\u00a0\u00a0 Miss URI wanted sound tech<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Equipment purchased on April 23rd \u2013<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>o\u00a0\u00a0 $2600 granted and another $300 for cables was asked the week before April 23rd 2012<\/p>\n<p>o\u00a0\u00a0 No getting around that Sound is expensive stuff<\/p>\n<p>o\u00a0\u00a0 Lots of equipment was purchased<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Mostly lights as that was the main focus<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>o\u00a0\u00a0 Monitors, Microphones, speakers<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>The amp was not expected to fail<\/li>\n<li>April 23rd \u2013 need not be considered category for the capital improvements<\/li>\n<li>Money is in the Guild\u2019s fundraising account<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>o\u00a0\u00a0 The Guild does not have a budget right now<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Tricky to take money from the budget because the fundraising is the reserve account<\/li>\n<li>When a performer is to be brought in, money is needed.<\/li>\n<li>The Fundraising money is money for investments<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>o\u00a0\u00a0 The Guild does not have a budget for continuous programming<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Very few groups have any money dedicated to solely funding programming<\/li>\n<li>SEC, Dance Till Dawn<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>o\u00a0\u00a0 We did put together a grant request to Guitar Center which included the Amps<\/p>\n<p>o\u00a0\u00a0 Stewart: I just think that they should contribute some to it.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Maintenance Schedule<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>o\u00a0\u00a0 Most of the equipment was purchased from the funds granted April 23rd<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>The equipment should last a long time.<\/li>\n<li>Payment<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>o\u00a0\u00a0 Stewart: It\u2019s not unreasonable to have them contribute $300 to the purchase of the Amps<\/p>\n<p>o\u00a0\u00a0 Weinreich: We can group but also the attendees or participants<\/p>\n<p>o\u00a0\u00a0 Weinreich: Organizations can still use money well.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Stewart: Issue tabled, the change is Organizations<\/p>\n<p>o\u00a0\u00a0 Some Groups need more money than others<\/p>\n<p>o\u00a0\u00a0 Why not make the payment based on a discussion at Finance<\/p>\n<p>o\u00a0\u00a0 I don\u2019t know how you can keep track of it since group membership changes<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>o\u00a0\u00a0 In most instances Senate will pay for 40% of the cost per student; this percentage is to be decided on by the Finance Committee at budgeting<\/p>\n<p>o\u00a0\u00a0 Weinreich: I don\u2019t like choosing hard numbers because we aren\u2019t basing them on any evidence<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>We need to ask orgs how many students are getting instructed<\/li>\n<li>Gas and Tolls<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>o\u00a0\u00a0 Stewart: We cannot grant them both the gas and travel contingency<\/p>\n<p>o\u00a0\u00a0 We supplement the cost of their Punch Passes<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>The Punch Passes (Rock Gym) are open to all students<\/li>\n<li>Not just for the Outing Clubs<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>o\u00a0\u00a0 Weinreich: Not double dipping because they are using funds that have already been put in for the punch
