Vocal Motion <\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Heather Levinson &#8211; treasurer<\/li>\n<li>Acapella group<\/li>\n<li>Not open to everyone<\/li>\n<li>Competitive and selective<\/li>\n<li>Require multiple auditions<\/li>\n<li>Prefer musical background<\/li>\n<li>Girls only<\/li>\n<li>Can only be of affiliate status<\/li>\n<li>Reason to become senate recognized \u2013 need somewhere to practice<\/li>\n<li>Not supported by another group of faculty advisor<\/li>\n<li>Not looking to be a competitive organization (maybe next year)<\/li>\n<li>Town based group require auditions and prefer musical background<\/li>\n<li>Limitation \u2013 its not open to everyone, considering the auditions \u2013 hence affiliate status<\/li>\n<li>Currently not supported by another group<\/li>\n<li>Decision will be postponed until the end of the meeting<\/li>\n<li>Motion to table until next week: 3-0-0<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Ski and Snowboarding <\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Competitive team<\/li>\n<li>10 events \u2013 5 weekends<\/li>\n<li>Open to everyone and anyone<\/li>\n<li>34 members currently<\/li>\n<li>Previously recognized<\/li>\n<li>Full, newly elected executive board<\/li>\n<li>All paperwork<\/li>\n<li>Motion: to recognize them as senate recognized, recommendation for funding in individual funding line: 6-0-0<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>III. Mini Baja Team <\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Open to everyone and anyone<\/li>\n<li>Competitions in off road go cart against other teams<\/li>\n<li>This club would be a precursor to the Capstone, which is provided by the chemical engineering department, and is only offered to five selected upperclassmen<\/li>\n<li>This was a club in the past, but not since 2008<\/li>\n<li>Concerns from Capstone? Support from Capstone?<\/li>\n<li>Department has given permission to use resources<\/li>\n<li>Department is encouraging the start of a club<\/li>\n<li>Where is funding coming for the club?<\/li>\n<li>Parts unused from last year will be available as a \u201chand-me-down\u201d<\/li>\n<li>Challenge \u00e0 closely linked with a university department. Senate is reluctant because student tax fees shouldn\u2019t fund anything academic departments should fund, it is only for the students<\/li>\n<li>Engineering department pays for entrance fee and travel, but not materials \u2013 this comes directly from students or sponsors<\/li>\n<li>Concern with overlap: club and Capstone<\/li>\n<li>Concern with mission statement: must be updated to talk about the goals of the organization<\/li>\n<li>Once the mission statement is revised \u2013 they will send in a model constitution to Kyle<\/li>\n<li>Motion to table until next Monday \u2013 coming back with mission statement and to show the clear distinction between the club and Capstone<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Club Tennis <\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>President<\/li>\n<li>Open to anyone who wants to play tennis recreationally and competitively<\/li>\n<li>Gives students the opportunity to play tennis or learn how to play when they are not on the varsity team<\/li>\n<li>Note: URI currently has 4\/8 tennis courts that are not being used \u2013 this club would utilize those courts<\/li>\n<li>Started 4-5 weeks ago<\/li>\n<li>Meetings are on Tuesdays<\/li>\n<li>20 members<\/li>\n<li>VP, treasurer, secretary<\/li>\n<li>Did not hold proper elections<\/li>\n<li>They must open nominations for each executive position, then close nominations after each position and let them sit on these nominations for at least a week, reopen elections at the next meeting and hold elections<\/li>\n<li>Budget<\/li>\n<li>Uniform<\/li>\n<li>Transportation<\/li>\n<li>Ball and racquets<\/li>\n<li>= $1000<\/li>\n<li>Must be senate recognized for two consecutive semesters before they can become a club<\/li>\n<li>They should discuss with varsity tennis to see what they could provide \u2013 balls, racquets, etc<\/li>\n<li>Motion: to recommend recognition with individual budget line to cover some of the required things: 6-0-0<\/li>\n<li>NEVER MIND!<\/li>\n<li>They did not have proper elections<\/li>\n<li>They must have proper elections<\/li>\n<li>They will need to come back 11\/4 with their elections minutes and newly elected officers contact information<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>URI Students Veterans Organization <\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Goal: make URI more veteran friendly and to make URI more sellable to veterans in the future, help veterans ease transition into college life<\/li>\n<li>Open to everyone<\/li>\n<li>12 members (all undergrads, but they have associate members interested)<\/li>\n<li>300 student veterans on campus \u2013 so this has been a minimal turnout<\/li>\n<li>ROTC wants nothing to do with them<\/li>\n<li>Had 5 meetings \u2013 including elections<\/li>\n<li>As a group, they need to set boundaries on what they can\/can not handle<\/li>\n<li>Motion: recognition as a funded organization, by recommendation funded for contingency: 6-0-0<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Geology <\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Kevin \u2013 VP<\/li>\n<li>5 members \u2013 this was excluding executive members and inconsistent members.
