{"id":3638,"date":"2014-12-01T14:14:02","date_gmt":"2014-12-01T19:14:02","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/web.uri.edu\/studentsenate\/?p=3638"},"modified":"2014-12-01T14:14:02","modified_gmt":"2014-12-01T19:14:02","slug":"soarc-2-4-2013","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/web.uri.edu\/studentsenate\/soarc-2-4-2013\/","title":{"rendered":"SOARC 2-4-2013"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>MEETING START TIME: <\/strong>12:00 PM<\/p>\n<p><strong>ATTENDANCE: <\/strong>Pishdadian, Blanchette, Sit, Kappatos, Berenato, McAteer<\/p>\n<p>Excused: Weinreich<\/p>\n<p><strong>COMMITTEE DISCUSSION: <\/strong><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Cheer club:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Fixed issue with elections<\/li>\n<li>Motion to recognize at category R (6-0-0)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>Collegiate Science Math Investigative Learning Experience (S.M.I.L.E.) <\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Grades 4 to 12, promote stem careers for children.<\/li>\n<li>Help mentor, guide them towards stem careers.<\/li>\n<li>Help hold challenge weekend, members have prior experience within the program.<\/li>\n<li>Hope to expand networking opportunities for stem careers, help high-school students set up shadow days for students to follow at URI.<\/li>\n<li>Have 15-20 regular members.<\/li>\n<li>Meet once a week, e-board meets once a week as well.<\/li>\n<li>Possibly A or R, somewhat of an academic element.<\/li>\n<li>Plan to do community service, not donate money.<\/li>\n<li>Reword: promoting stem careers by helping mentor children.<\/li>\n<li>Robotics club is an R so we could recognize them as an R as well.<\/li>\n<li>Elections: candidates nominated last Wednesday, has anonymous voting through survey monkey.<\/li>\n<li>Has to be actual secret ballots<\/li>\n<li>Still has until next Wednesday for nominations to be open and then vote.<\/li>\n<li>Will vote on Wednesday and return to SOARC committee next week.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Presidents meeting tonight, will get information for poster with all groups meeting times and locations.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Will continue to work on SOARC handbook and will hand over changes to bylaws committee.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Will be meeting with Finance chair to discuss category changes.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Adjourned at 12:20<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>MEETING START TIME: 12:00 PM ATTENDANCE: Pishdadian, Blanchette, Sit, Kappatos, Berenato, McAteer Excused: Weinreich COMMITTEE DISCUSSION: &nbsp; Cheer club: Fixed issue with elections Motion to recognize at category R (6-0-0) &nbsp; Collegiate Science Math Investigative Learning Experience (S.M.I.L.E.)
