{"id":3657,"date":"2014-12-01T14:41:52","date_gmt":"2014-12-01T19:41:52","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/web.uri.edu\/studentsenate\/?p=3657"},"modified":"2014-12-01T14:41:52","modified_gmt":"2014-12-01T19:41:52","slug":"soarc-10-1-2012","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/web.uri.edu\/studentsenate\/soarc-10-1-2012\/","title":{"rendered":"SOARC 10-1-2012"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>M<\/strong><strong>EETING <\/strong><strong>S<\/strong><strong>TART <\/strong><strong>T<\/strong><strong>IME<\/strong><strong>: <\/strong>3:00pm<\/p>\n<p><strong>A<\/strong><strong>TTENDANCE<\/strong><strong>:\u00a0\u00a0 <\/strong>Pishdadian, Sit, Weinreich (Sit taking minutes \u2013 Blanchette Absent)<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>C<\/strong><strong>OMMITTEE <\/strong><strong>D<\/strong><strong>ISCUSSION<\/strong><strong>:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Slam Poetry<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Slam Poetry is a performance poetry<\/li>\n<li>Activities<\/li>\n<li>Shows at the Coffee House<\/li>\n<li>Slams as fundraisers<\/li>\n<li>Bring in professionals<\/li>\n<li>Member attendance<\/li>\n<li>24 people<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>o\u00a0\u00a0 10 people at the first meeting<\/p>\n<p>o\u00a0\u00a0 16 people from Student Orgs Fairs and 8 people emailed from cigar<\/p>\n<p>o\u00a0\u00a0 P: Sounds like a great group to have 24 people sign up for the first meeting<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Election of Executives<\/li>\n<li>Not everyone was there so it was done by ballots<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>o\u00a0\u00a0 P: should be done in protocol \u2013 announce nominations and let it sit on the floor for a week<\/p>\n<p>o\u00a0\u00a0 P: We can\u2019t vote on you since you didn\u2019t have formal elections<\/p>\n<p>o\u00a0\u00a0 W: set up a consistent meeting time so it can be easier on the members<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Working with Departments?<\/li>\n<li>Not really working with the English department<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>o\u00a0\u00a0 Did ask some professors to spread the word but no real work with the English department<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>URI Breakers<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Intro<\/li>\n<li>Break dancing club<\/li>\n<li>Learn the real history of Break dancing and the culture<\/li>\n<li>Teach basic skills of break dancing<\/li>\n<li>Activities<\/li>\n<li>Dances and performances<\/li>\n<li>Collaborating with groups such as<\/li>\n<li>Members<\/li>\n<li>10 active members<\/li>\n<li>Elections<\/li>\n<li>Elections were had but not by protocol<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>o\u00a0\u00a0 P: We will vote on recognizing Breakers once they do elections<\/p>\n<p>o\u00a0\u00a0 W: Open up nominations at the next meeting and vote next week<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Breakers: We are the three people that are really involved<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>o\u00a0\u00a0 P: that\u2019s fine, just do the elections compliant with the bylaws<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>P: Used to have a Break dancing club that fell off the face of the earth so we like to keep an eye on groups that dissolve.<\/li>\n<li>Breakers:<\/li>\n<li>Advertising: Can we just post anywhere?<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>o\u00a0\u00a0 P: Nope, do not do that. There are guidelines.<\/p>\n<p>o\u00a0\u00a0 S: Here are the forms that talk about what you can do. This is the Master advertising list<\/p>\n<p>o\u00a0\u00a0 P: whoa, do you normally carry that stuff around?<\/p>\n<p>o\u00a0\u00a0 S: What do you think I am? I\u2019m a super senator.
